Liverpool are allegedly not planning to swoop for the Switzerland international Denis Zakaria in spite of the recent speculation surrounding the player.

The 25-year-old’s deal with Borussia Monchengladbach is due to expire in the summer, and there have been reports that he could leave in a cut-price deal before the end of the winter transfer window.

A recent report stated that the Reds were among the front-runners for the midfielder, with the Anfield side ahead of Manchester United in the hunt for his signature.

However, according to a report from the Liverpool Echo, the Merseysiders have no interest in bringing in the contract rebel before the end of the January transfer market.

The report adds that the return to fitness of a host of first-team midfield players means that Jurgen Klopp’s side are not planning to sign another star in that area of the pitch this month.

Zakaria – also linked with Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich – has netted twice and registered one assist in 18 outings at club level during the 2021-22 season.

Elsewhere, Liverpool are allegedly ready to try to land Nantes attacker Randal Kolo Muani in the last stages of the January transfer market.

German outlet Bild states that Jurgen Klopp wants his club to make a late push for the star in January, and a fee of £7 million could seal the deal with the player in the final six months of his Canaris contract.
