Liverpool suffer setback in chase for €65m-rated Leipzig attacker

Liverpool-linked Christopher Nkunku has suggested that he is likely to remain at RB Leipzig next term, playing down thoughts of a summer move away from the Bundesliga outfit.

He is wanted at some of the bigger sides in Europe following a term where he scored 34 goals and registered 20 assists across all competitions for Die Roten Bullen.

The France international collected the award of the Bundesliga Player of the Season earlier this week and Jurgen Klopp’s side have been linked with another transfer raid on the German club to sign him.

Manchester United and Arsenal are also interested, however, Domenico Tedesco and co. have been pushing to keep the player and are planning to offer him an extension in the summer to further secure his long-term future.

And RB Leipzig’s work is set to be rewarded and Christopher claimed that for the moment he doesn’t see himself leaving the Red Bull Arena in the summer transfer market.

The forward told French newspaper and TV channel L’Equipe: “I see myself at Leipzig at the start of the new year. For the moment.”

He has a contract until June 2024 and if remains to be seen if the board are made a proposal by one of his English suitors that he can’t refuse.
