Liverpool are one of many teams keen on signing Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo after his strong start to the PL campaign, as Jurgen Klopp looks to plug the gap in the Reds’ injury-plagued midfield department. Liverpool are set to launch a £42m bid for Caicedo, which will almost certainly be rebuffed immediately by the Seagulls.
With Keita, Thiago and Oxlade-Chamberlain all currently in the treatment room, it is a well-documented fact that the Reds are looking to bring in a midfielder before the summer transfer window slams shut after initially delaying a new midfield signing.
Even the German coach has admitted that he would like to add a new midfielder this week after a string of injuries in that area. As such, the likes of Konrad Laimer, Ruben Neves and Jude Bellingham have been linked with the Reds, but none of them are close to moving to Liverpool.
Ecuador international is contracted until the summer of 2025, and Brighton are highly unlikely to sell their prized asset for cheap this summer, as they are under little financial pressure, having already sold the likes of Bissouma, and Cucurella for hefty profits.
It stays to be seen who the Merseyside giants will end up with in their midfield search. But the Seagulls are likely to resist all offers, even if the bid is worth an eye-watering £42m, for their prized asset this summer, with deadline day looming large.
