Liverpool boss confirms midfielder absence ahead of Saturday match

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Liverpool star Fabinho will miss the Reds’ FA Cup final versus Chelsea through injury.

The Brazil international hobbled off during the team’s Premier League victory over Aston Villa on Tuesday night, with the German boss later saying he had picked up a muscular injury.

He has now confirmed his side will be without the midfielder for Saturday’s FA Cup final as Liverpool look to secure their second trophy of the term and keep their hopes of an incredible quadruple alive.

Issuing an update on the player on Thursday, Jurgen told the Merseyside heavyweights’ official website:

‘There’s a good chance that he will be back whenever – not for the weekend but whenever. There’s a good chance that he will be available for the Champions League final.’

The former Monaco man has been a mainstay in his side’s since his £39 million move from Les Monegasques in 2018, helping Liverpool win the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and EFL Cup.

The 28-year-old Fabinho has made 47 appearances for the Reds this season, helping them challenge for another division title and reach another UCL final.

Meantime, the Liverpool leader has allegedly told club senior figures that he is happy to bring in Aberdeen defender Calvin Ramsey in the summer.

Liverpool back in transfer hunt for 35-goals French striker

Dutch club ready to entertain offers of €35m for Liverpool target

PSV Eindhoven have allegedly placed a €35 million (£30 million) price tag on Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal target Cody Gakpo.
