Former Premier League forward Noel Whelan has pleaded with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to land Leicester City star Youri Tielemans.

In the summer the Anfield side lost their most dependable option in the middle of the park in Georginio Wijnaldum and are now feeling the impact of the Netherlands international’s absence.

Jurgen Klopp is currently without Harvey Elliott, Naby Keita and James Milner whilst Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho are only just returning to action.

Speaking to Football Insider, Noel urged the Merseyside giants to target Youri after the 24-year-old rejected a fresh deal with the Foxes.

“That’s the Wijnaldum replacement sorted straight away, isn’t it? If they could get Tielemans through the door, he’d add energy, that defensive ability, goals, link-up play, and more.

“I think Salah and Mane would benefit from having him in the side as well. He’d be a perfect replacement for Wijnaldum with the way he plays. Look at his age, as well. You’re building for the future by signing him.”

So far this campaign, he has scored three and grabbed two assists in 10 Premier League appearances. The star has not missed a single match through fitness since signing for the King Power Stadium outfit in 2019.
