Amid several interviews that Liverpool stars have been giving this week ahead of the UEFA Champions League final versus Real Madrid, Roberto Firmino had a word with the South American and more concretely Brazilian media.
The 30-year-old player held an exclusive chat with local TV channel TNT Sports, mostly talking about the campaign he has just had, the chances of going to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and obviously, this weekend’s game.
It turns out that in the last question of that interview, reporter Fred Caldeira pointed out that the attacker’s contract with the Reds expires next year, and asked him if any discussions are being held for a possible extension.
The former Hoffenheim man did not confirm any conversations but made his wish of staying put very clear.
“I’m very happy here. I’m grateful to God that I’m here playing for a great club with great players, winning titles. And my will is to stay,” he told TNT Sports.
“My wish is to stay here. I want to be here. I’m happy here. So that’s all I can say, I want to stay.”
Since arriving at the Premier League club back in 2015, the versatile frontman had 98 goals and 74 assists in 326 matches.
