League One Blackpool have purchased Liverpool’s youngest goalscorer, Ben Woodburn, on loan until the start of the second half of the season.
The Seasiders are managed by ex-Liverpool coach Neil Critchley and he will be entrusted with helping 21-year-old Ben live up to the potential he first displayed as a teenager at the club.
The Wales international made history when he netted against Leeds aged 17 years 45 days but subsequently found it hard to break into the German manager Jurgen Klopp’s senior team plans.
He spent last campaign on loan at Oxford United and helped his former club reach the League One play-off final.
Critchley began last term as Liverpool’s Under-23s manager and also took charge of the senior team for Carabao Cup and FA Cup ties.
He was appointed Blackpool manager back in March. They have had a difficult start to the campaign, only winning one of their opening five fixtures.
In other news, Liverpool have reportedly have stolen a march on Manchester United in the race to land RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano next year.
The 21-year-old was greatly linked with a transfer to Old Trafford during the recent transfer market, however United eventually cooled their interest.
Upamecano has a buy-out clause in his contract at Leipzig which will allow him to quit the club for around ₤ 40m next summer.
Liverpool and their league rivals had actually been leading the race, however Spanish source Todofichajes declares that the Merseyside giants have actually now relocated to the front of the line.
