Chelsea have reportedly been handed a huge blow with regards to their alleged interest in Man Utd wantaway forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

On the back of talks being held between the West London giants, owner Todd Boehly and super-agent Jorge Mendes, the Red Devils insisted that the 37-year-old forward was not for sale.

While that stance stays the same, reports emerged over the weekend that the Portuguese attacker had requested a transfer away from Old Trafford.

The veteran forward is believed to want to play Champions League football during the latter stages of his career, and planning to quit from the Red Devils ahead of the 2022/23 season.

On Monday afternoon, it was reported that Chelsea were interested in luring the Portuguese forward and Stamford Bridge and tabled offer for him.

Nevertheless, according to The Mirror, the Red Devils would rather not sell him to direct Premier League rivals and wait for offers from the overseas.

Ronaldo had been due to return to first-team training on Monday, only for the Red Devils to be accepting of his absence following to family reasons.

However, Portuguese legend has reportedly been told that he will be expected to feature on Man Utd’s upcoming pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia.
