Man Utd right-back could reunite with former coach at Serie A club

Jose Mourinho is reportedly eager to bring Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot to Roma in January.

As claimed by Calciomercato, Jose has identified his compatriot as his main target to bolster his options at right-back.

Diogo possesses experience of playing in Italy having spent last campaign on loan at AC Milan.

Mourinho was in charge of the Red Devils when Dalot signed for the club in the summer of 2018.

However, he was sacked in December that year, with the ex-Porto ace making just six appearances under him as the defender missed a host of matches due to injury.

The full-back has returned to United following his loan stint, but, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka became the first-choice right-back for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, Diogo’s chances of regular game time appear limited.

So far this term Dalot has played 53 minutes versus Young Boys in the UEFA Champions League, while the player came on as a late substitute against Bruno Lage’s Wolves in the Premier League.

The 22-year-old star has two years remaining on his current deal at Old Trafford. During his time at the club, Dalot has made 37 appearances in total.

Roma, meantime, won their first three matches of the Serie A campaign but were beaten 3-2 by Hellas Verona last weekend.

Dutchman Rick Karsdorp is I Giallorossi’s first-choice right-back at present.

Man Utd set their sights on £54m-rated domestic rivals midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has allegedly been identified as a possible transfer target for Manchester United.

The 24-year-old star was initially frozen out of the Lilywhites roster under the Portuguese head coach Nuno Espirito Santo but is beginning to be handed minutes in the engine room this campaign.

However, his future with the North London outfit is still highly uncertain, with Spurs said to be one of several sides, including the Red Devils, keen on a deal for AC Milan’s Ivory Coast international midfielder Franck Kessie.

Manchester United are also expected to be in the transfer market for midfield reinforcements next year, and a media outlet Calciomercato claims that the former Lyon ace is on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side’s radar alongside Kessie.

The report adds that Tanguy forms part of a contingency plan in case his compatriot Paul Pogba departs the Old Trafford outfit on a free next summer, although the club supposedly want to make the former Juventus star the Premier League’s highest-paid player ever.

Spurs midfielder lasted 62 minutes of last weekend’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea – his first top-flight appearance of the new campaign – and his current deal in North London runs until the summer of 2025.

Agent tried to engineer Atletico move for Portugal great before Man Utd return

Cristiano Ronaldo allegedly turned down the opportunity to join Atletico Madrid this summer’s transfer window, before re-joining Manchester United.

The 36-year-old forward left the Serie A side Juventus and sealed his move back to Old Trafford on deadline day, penning a two-year contract, 12 years after quitting the club to sign for Real Madrid.

However, according to a Spanish radio station Cadena Ser’s Carrusel show, his agent Jorge Mendes attempted to lure the living legend back to La Liga this summer’s transfer market.

After a return to the Galacticos was ruled out and with Ronald Koeman’s Barcelona unable to afford the Portugal icon amid their financial crisis, Los Rojiblancos were considered the only viable option if Cristiano was to go back to Spain’s first tier.

However, the report says that Ronaldo was not keen on a move to Diego Simeone’s side, while the La Liga winners made decision to pull out as they did not want to snap up a club legend of their city rivals.

Cristiano has since settled in quickly with the 20-time English champions, scoring four goals in his first three matches against West Ham United, Young Boys and Newcastle United.
