Bayern Munich winger and Manchester United target Kingsley Coman has signed a lucrative new contract with the Bundesliga giants.
The Frenchman, who has been at Die Roten since 2015, etched his name into their history by netting the only goal in the 2020 UEFA Champions League final versus Paris Saint-Germain.
The news is a major blow to Ralf Rangnick’s side, who were allegedly aiming to take advantage of the player running down his deal in Bavaria in the hope of landing him for free.
The 25-year-old attacker’s previous contract was until 2023 and the German outfit have painful recent memories of losing key players for nothing after David Alaba moved to Real Madrid on a free transfer last summer but Kingsley ended the speculation by agreeing on an extension on Wednesday.
‘I’m very happy because FC Bayern are one of the best clubs in the world and I know we still have a lot of opportunities and big goals here. I’ve been at the club since 2015 — it feels like a big family,’ he told their official website.
‘Everything is perfect here. My best years as a footballer are still ahead of me, and I’m glad I’ll be spending them at FC Bayern. My biggest goal is to win the Champions League again — and this time, please, together with our fans.’
Manchester United could reportedly face a transfer battle if they are to land Brazilian starlet Endrick.
The 15-year-old attacker has been turning heads at multiple of the Premier League’s biggest sides with his performances for Palmeiras.
The Red Devils are understood to be tracking his progress but face competition from Liverpool and Manchester City for his signature.
He is unable to pen a professional contract before Endrick turns 16 but his club are said to be preparing to hand their prized possession a deal on his next birthday – July 21st.
And the board plan to include a whopping buy-out clause to capitalise on the interest in their prodigy.
The striker has drawn comparisons with Real Madrid wonderboy Vinicius Jr and shares an agent with his fellow countryman.
The player is most comfortable through the middle but can operate anywhere across a front three. Endrick has allegedly smashed in 167 goals in 170 matches for Palmeiras’ academy.
One of those recently gathered the internet as footage of the South American scoring a stunning solo goal versus Real Ariquemes went viral.
Barcelona and Real Madrid are also reported to be watching the teenager’s progress. Flamengo are another side in the mix if he decides to stay at home in his homeland with any move.
Manchester United will prioritise a fresh deal for Marcus Rashford this summer in spite of the forward’s worrying run of form.
His current contract at Old Trafford expires in June 2023 but the Red Devils have the option to extend that by a further one year.
While the board intend to take that option, they are poised to secure his future beyond that by tying the academy graduate down to a new long-term contract, according to a report from ESPN.
The club risk losing Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba for free this summer with both stars in the final six months of their respective deals at the club.
The hierarchy at the Premier League giants are eager to avoid a similar situation unfolding with Marcus.
He began the campaign on the sidelines after undergoing successful shoulder surgery following England’s UEFA Euro 2020 campaign – where the player missed a penalty in the final defeat to Roberto Mancini’s Italy.
While he netted against Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur after returning in October, the 24-year-old frontman has endured a troubled season where he has failed to net in his last 11 games.
Marcus was heavily criticised for his showing against Aston Villa in the FA Cup and was finally replaced in the 86th minute.
