Man Utd to withdraw long-standing interest in English midfielder

Manchester United are allegedly preparing to abandon their pursuit of Declan Rice, with the 20-time English champions now looking at alternatives to the England and West Ham United midfielder.

The star was linked with a transfer away from the London Stadium in the summer, but the transfer market closed with the player still at the Hammers.

Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is understood to be a huge admirer of the 22-year-old Rice, who impressed for his country at this summer’s European Championship.

However, according to ESPN, scouts at United are now looking at alternatives to Declan, who has apparently been priced out of a move to the Theatre of Dreams.

The report states that senior figures at the club are unsure whether he has the ability to take United to another level, while the Manchester giants are not prepared to meet the Irons’ asking price, which is understood to be in the region of £90 million.

As a result, they are now identifying other players that could be targeted when next summer’s transfer market opens for business.

Declan has scored once and grabbed one assist in six appearances for his team during the 2021-22 campaign.

Unhappy goalkeeper already wants to leave PSG as Man Utd hold interest

Manchester United, Chelsea and Barcelona are all allegedly eyeing a swoop for Gianluigi Donnarumma, who has already grown frustrated at Paris Saint-Germain, according to a recent report from Italian website Calciomercato.it.

He signed for Les Parisiens this past summer on a free transfer after the player’s contract with boyhood club AC Milan ran out.

While Gianluigi was widely expected to replace the Costa Rica international Keylor Navas as the first-choice shot-stopper at Parc des Princes, that hasn’t been the case as Mauricio Pochettino has rotated him with the former Real Madrid star so far this season.

As a result, the talent has made just two appearances in all competitions for Paris Saint-Germain since his big move, managing to collect a solitary clean sheet.

The situation that Donnarumma finds himself in is believed to have made him unhappy, especially after his exploits with Italy at the UEFA Euro 2020.

This has opened the door for fresh talks surrounding his future, with the likes of the Red Devils, Blaugrana and the Blues said to be keeping a close eye on Donnarumma’s situation in the French capital.

David de Gea, after a couple of mixed seasons, is surely back to his best in the early parts of the new campaign.

With youngster Dean Henderson waiting in the wings to take over, Gianluigi wouldn’t be the automatic first-choice should he seal Old Trafford move unless one of them decides to quit the club permanently between now and next season.

Dortmund chase Man Utd man with Red Devils open to selling him

Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial is reportedly under consideration by the Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund as a possible replacement for Erling Haaland.

He has fallen down the pecking order at the club since the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo late in August and has failed to impress in a couple of recent performances.

The French star is now entering his seventh campaign at Old Trafford but has struggled for stability and a regular position in the squad over the last couple of seasons.

Die Borussen, however, are considering replacements for Erling, who is set to see an exit clause activate in his contract in 2022.

Inevitably it’ll trigger interest from a number of Europe’s biggest clubs, the Red Devils included, but they’re already considering replacements considering they won’t be in a position to reject bids which activate the clause.

BVB have an eye-catching record of developing players and, as media outlet 90min reports, the club believe they could kickstart Anthony’s career upon arrival.

United are happy to allow Martial to leave and could accept a proposal equivalent to what they paid the Ligue 1 side Monaco for the player in 2015, so long as wages are covered.
