South American striker advised to quit Man Utd in near future

Uruguayan centre-forward Edinson Cavani has been told to leave Manchester United by fellow countryman and former Premier League manager Gus Poyet.

The 34-year-old penned a one-year contract extension at the club earlier this year, but since the arrival of Portugal icon Cristiano Ronaldo, the South American has evidently fallen down the pecking order.

Former Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea man Poyet, who played 26 times for his country’s national team, believes Cristiano’s arrival will have an effect on Edinson’s game time and therefore thinks he needs to leave in January.

“[Cavani] was unlucky, because without Ronaldo coming in, he was playing as [Man United’s] main striker,” Gus told talkSPORT.

“The decision of Juventus, Manchester City getting involved, incredibly went against one person especially – and that was Cavani.

“Maybe he should move in January. From the outside, I don’t know him, but if I was him, seeing how things are now, and seeing him not getting to 90 minutes for the national team because he’s not playing – maybe.”

Edinson – who has been linked with La Liga heavyweights Barcelona and Real Madrid – netted 17 times in 43 appearances for United across all competitions last campaign, however this term, the veteran attacker has featured for just 119 minutes across four games.

Man Utd set their sights on £76,000-a-week Leicester City star

Manchester United are prepared to make a swoop for Leicester City star Wilfred Ndidi, according to Fichajes.

The Red Devils bolstered their squad at the back and the final third by adding 4-time UEFA Champions League winner Raphael Varane, long-term transfer target Jadon Sancho and living legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, more new players are on the way, particularly since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has earmarked the main area he needs to add stars to.

The landing of a central midfielder has been considered the role that needs to be filled and Wilfred Ndidi has been pinpointed as the top target.

He has been a hugely influential member of Brendan Rodger’s side over the last couple of seasons and was a crucial part of the Foxes side that made it into the Top 5 last campaign as well as in the one before that.

However, after 185 appearances for them, the 24-year-old star is eyeing to make his way out of the King Power Stadium outfit, especially after the disappointing form showcased by Leicester City at the start of the term.

Regardless, this would be a massive coup by United, especially since they’d be adding one of the best players in the Premier League to their ranks.

Man Utd attacker drawing attention from La Liga and Serie A

Jesse Lingard has reportedly become a transfer target for AC Milan and Barcelona, with his Manchester United deal expiring at the end of the current campaign.

The 28-year-old star is into the final year of his existing contract at Old Trafford and is yet to pen a new one, despite the Red Devils offering him improved terms.

The Englishman has rejected the proposal because he is concerned over game time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and doesn’t feel like guarantees have been properly given.

He spent the second half of last term on loan at West Ham because he was not involved at Old Trafford, and in spite of performing brilliantly for the Irons, is still struggling to get into the starting eleven under Solskjaer.

Jesse has made just three Premier League appearances thus far this season, all from the bench, and despite netting in two of those outings is still not expected to play week in, week out.

His stance on a fresh contract has alerted plenty of attention, with the Hammers and newly-monied Newcastle United likely to be keen, while there is attention coming from a pair of UCL giants.

ESPN state that both Blaugrana and I Rossoneri would be keen to pick up Lingard for free next summer when his current contract comes to an end.
