Man Utd set their sights on England U21 international

Manchester United are allegedly eyeing up a swoop for Brighton and Hove Albion star Tariq Lamptey ahead of the winter transfer window.

According to Spanish source Fichajes, the Red Devils are keen on securing the highly-regarded 21-year-old’s signature over the coming weeks after growing tired of first-choice Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s inefficiencies.

The outlet goes on to claim that the Old Trafford side could provide new head coach Ralf Rangnick with a ‘magnificent player’ by sealing a deal for Lamptey in January, labelling the player a ‘special talent’.

Since arriving at the Amex Stadium outfit from boyhood club Chelsea last year, Tariq has established himself as one of the most exciting and promising full-backs in the Premier League.

In 26 matches for the Seagulls, the England youth international has netted one goal and registered four assists, attracting praise from multiple impressed onlookers.

Boss Graham Potter has previously lauded both his player’s defensive qualities and attacking ability following his fast start to life at Brighton.

“He’s got such electric pace, but lots of players have that,” said Graham. “It’s having the ability to run in behind. The ability to run into space is often what separates players.

“Tariq does that, but he’s got courage, he does his defensive work. The boys love him, and he’s in a good place.”

Man Utd vying for services of River Plate academy graduate

Manchester United are interested in signing 21-year-old Argentine forward Julian Alvarez, according to a recent report by Italian outlet Calciomercato.

He has become one of the most in-demand strikers in the world on the back of a top-class 2021 campaign, wherein the player guided River Plate to the Liga Profesional title with his brilliant performances in the final third.

The South American, who had trials with Los Millonarios’ bitter rivals Boca Juniors and Real Madrid before joining his current side, has 21 goals and 13 assists in 42 matches across all competitions this year.

The highly-rated ace’s exploits have also helped him break into the country’s national side, and Julian was also a part of the roster that won the Copa America in the summer.

United have plenty of forwards in their senior team setup, but a closer look reveals the need to strengthen their attacking ranks with one.

That is because the French star Anthony Martial is facing an uncertain future at the Theatre of Dreams, while the Uruguay international Edinson Cavani is in the twilight of his professional career and linked with Barcelona.

On top of that, living legend Cristiano Ronaldo will only be a short-term solution for the club, meaning player like Julian Alvarez could leave the line for seasons to come if signed.

Serie A pair battling for services of £13.5m Man Utd signing

Manchester United defender Alex Telles is reportedly being tracked by both AC Milan and Inter Milan.

The 28-year-old defender had been in and out of the Red Devils team under then-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since his arrival last year.

The player has made just three Premier League appearances so far this term and The Sun reports both Italian outfits are looking to land the Brazilian if his lack of game time continues.

Both teams are keen on a winter loan deal for the former Porto ace, but any approach then will be snubbed.

Instead a transfer next summer is more likely when the English giants would be able to demand more of their £13.5 million sum paid back.

Alex has found it tough to break into the starting XI since joining, with the England international Luke Shaw first choice.

Telles has played just six times this season, including twice in the UEFA Champions League and once in the EFL Cup.

Meantime, Edinson Cavani allegedly wants a move to Barcelona in 2022.

Like Alex, the centre-forward has barely featured this campaign and with his deal expiring at the end of the term, Cavani is prepared to leave Old Trafford.

The Catalans are long-term admirers of him and The Times claims the 20-time English champions’ forward is willing to move to the Camp Nou with new Blaugrana boss Xavi.
