Bruno Fernandes is preparing to sign a new five-year deal at Manchester United worth more than £250,000 per week, with the Portugal international convinced to pen fresh terms after Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival and the Red Devils’ fine transfer window.

He has been locked in discussions with the club for a number of months about renewing his current deal at Old Trafford.

The 27-year-old star has quickly established himself as one of the Old Trafford side’s most valuable players following his £60 million move from Sporting CP in January 2020, scoring 44 goals in 85 matches for the Premier League side.

The fact Fernandes hadn’t put pen to paper on a new deal was beginning to concern United, particularly as La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona had registered interest in securing his signature.

But The Sun say Bruno is on the brink of committing his long-term future to his club, with his fresh five-year deal possibly announced before the end of September after successful discussions.

It is claimed he was convinced to stay at United following United’s impressive summer transfer market in which they re-signed his compatriot Cristiano and brought world-class players Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane to Manchester.
