Manchester United are allegedly ‘well placed’ to land Sevilla and France centre-back Jules Kounde next summer’s transfer window.

The youngster was strongly linked with a transfer to Chelsea during the recent transfer market, but the Blues couldn’t come to a full agreement with his La Liga outfit over a fee.

There is again talk surrounding the player’s long-term future ahead of the winter transfer business, although Los Nervionenses are expected to again resist a sale at the start of 2022.

According to a fresh report from SuperDeporte, Monchi and co. are preparing for Jules’ exit next summer, though, by pinpointing Barcelona’s Clement Lenglet as the former Bordeaux ace’s replacement.

The report continues, by saying that in spite of interest from somewhere else, the Red Devils are ‘well placed’ to swoop for the 23-year-old, who has made 17 appearances across all competitions for Julen Lopetegui’s side this season.

United brought Raphael Varane to the Premier League in the summer, and Jules’ potential arrival would apparently put captain Harry Maguire under severe pressure for a spot in the starting XI.

The talented star is believed to have a £69 million release clause in his current contract at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium side.
