AC Milan are allegedly preparing to approach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United with a fresh and improved offer for Portuguese full-back Diogo Dalot.
The 22-year-old star spent the 2020-21 season on loan at San Siro, contributing two goals and three assists in 33 matches in all competitions.
As it stands, Diogo will be a part of the Red Devils’ first-team squad for the new campaign, but the right-back continues to be associated with a move away from Old Trafford.
Real Madrid have been touted with an interest, but Milan are said to be at the head of the queue for the former Porto ace, having built a relationship with the player last season.
According to Sky Sport Italia journalist and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Rossoneri want to sign Dalot on loan for next term with the option to make the deal permanent in 2022.
Romano says that Milan will improve the loan sum previously offered to Manchester United, who are said to be demanding a figure in the region of €5 million (£4.3 million).
Diogo, who has made 35 appearances for United in all competitions, still has two years left to run on his deal with the 20-time English champions.
