Arsenal could launch a move for West Brom shot-stopper Sam Johnstone amid doubts regarding the future of No 1 Bernd Leno.

Sky Sports News reports the 28-year-old has emerged as a potential target for Gunners boss Mikel Arteta.

Sheffield United keeper Aaron Ramsdale has been linked with a transfer to the Gunners and there is also rumoured interest in Barcelona’s No 2 Neto.

However, the north Londoners have now shown an interest in landing Johnstone from relegated West Brom.

Former Manchester United academy product Johnstone has made 131 appearances for his team, keeping 30 clean sheets during his three-season stay in the West Midlands.

West Ham allegedly had a £6m offer for Johnstone rejected by the Baggies this month.

He has emerged as a target for a couple of top-flight clubs having starred for the club despite their relegation from the Premier League in the 2020-21 term.

The 28-year-old has 12 months remaining on his contract at the Hawthorns, with the club valuing their stopper at £10m.

West Ham are also in the market for a goalie this summer, and the same outlet states that PSG’s Alphonse Areola remains the Irons’ top target.

The French star spent the last campaign on loan with Fulham and the club are said to be looking at a summer deal for the three-time Ligue 1 winner.
