Arsenal are allegedly part of a five-way battle to snap up Flamengo striker Gabriel Barbosa.

He was a disappointment in the previous attempt at impressing in European football.

The player struggled to make an impact for the Serie A giants Inter Milan in the 2016-17 term. Gabriel made just 10 appearances for I Nerazzurri and contributed a solitary goal.

The Italians spent the next few seasons trying to offload Barbosa. A loan stint with Benfica also only brought a single goal, before the star returned to his homeland.

Barbosa got back on track on loan with Santos before signing for Flamengo on the same terms until the transfer became permanent in 2020.

He has won nine trophies with his team, including the 2019 Copa Libertadores. The attacker was the top scorer in the same tournament this year, but his club lost the final.

Now, the South American could be ready for another chance in the northern hemisphere.

A recent report from 90min has stated that Gabriel wants to return to Europe in the winter and would prefer to play in the PL.

Fortunately for the 25-year-old star, he has several potential buyers who may be prepared to offer him such a platform.

The report lists Arsenal, West Ham United, Everton, Aston Villa and Newcastle United as the five teams considering taking him to England.
