Arsenal are reportedly now battling Tottenham Hotspur for the services of Red Bull Salzburg’s Roko Simic in a move worth around £7m plus bonuses.
That is according to The Sunday Mirror, who state that Arsenal are looking to move for Simic.
It’s stated that the striker is being compared to retired Mario Mandzukic in terms of being a powerful Croatian centre forward.
The 18-year-old prodigy was born in Italy as Roko is the son of ex-AC Milan defender Dario Simic.
After showing some potential at the Croatian side Lokomotiva Zagreb, Die Roten Bullen swooped in as the club look for another striking sensation.
He is currently on loan at feeder club FC Liefering, and the player has smashed seven goals in 10 matches to attract real interest.
Rumours of Mikel Arteta’s side wanting Simic come just days after their city rivals Tottenham were mentioned with a move.
Jeunes Footeux state that Spurs and West Ham United both interested in snapping up Simic.
Arsenal scouts reportedly feel that Simic would fit the Premier League ideally, telling the Spanish coach to make a move.
At £7m plus add-ons, Roko could be a bargain. Arsenal are not alone in the race for him though and will have to see off the aforementioned teams.
