Arsenal have reportedly met with Youri Tielemans’ agents, as Mikel Arteta plans to make a move for the Leicester City midfielder.

According to Goal, the Belgian’s representatives have travelled to the Gunners’ London Colney training base in order to hold discussions.

His current deal is set to expire in June 2023, meaning that the Foxes will likely have to sell their prized possession in the summer if he does not show any sign of committing to an extension.

The north London side are close to bringing in Juventus’ Arthur on a loan until the end of the term since Ainsley Maitland-Niles has joined Roma on loan, while Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey are off on the Africa Cup of Nations duty.

But Youri would be a longer-term fit for the Emirates Stadium outfit, with the Spanish manager’s blueprint for how he is keen to set up his Gunners side in the future becoming particularly evident in the latest weeks.

Granit Xhaka is still a target for Jose Mourinho’s Roma though, after a failed transfer last summer and the Belgian would be a big upgrade on him.

They’d probably have to compete with Liverpool for Tielemans’ signature, while there would no doubt be serious interest from abroad.
