Arsenal could be handed chance to snap up Borussia Dortmund centre-half Manuel Akanji, with the star considering the idea of a transfer to England.

That is according to Sport 1, who say the Switzerland international is one of the prime candidates to be axed this summer.

BVB will be undergoing an eye-catching rebuild this year, with Erling Haaland already a Manchester City player.

While that will raise a notable sum, it’ll also leave a huge hole in Die Borussen’s squad, something that will take a sizeable fee to fill.

One target is currently Ajax star Sebastien Haller, but according to a report from Sport 1, the club need more sales before they can bring in fresh faces.

Manuel is most often linked with sale as he’ll have strong competition from Nico Schlotterbeck and Niklas Sule in defence next term.

He’s thus thinking about a move to the Premier League, where there are clubs allegedly willing to pay as much as €25 million for his services.

Sport 1 don’t name anyone specifically, but claims over the last month have stated that Arsenal are one of his suitors, with it was said they had ‘put out feelers’ for him back in April.

That was followed by an explanation the club were holding back on lodging a bid for the time being.
