Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta hasn’t ruled out offering a new deal to Alexandre Lacazette in order to extend his stay at the Emirates.
The striker came on and made a big impact versus Crystal Palace when he netted a last-ditch equaliser to save a point on Monday night.
The 30-year-old star is in the final year of his deal and so far, the Gunners haven’t opened discussions over a contract extension with the forward.
He is expected to leave as a free agent in 2022 and Inter Milan are allegedly preparing to offer the player a three-year contract to move to Serie A ahead of next season.
The French star was linked with a transfer away from Arsenal last summer as well but Mikel stressed that he never doubted his motivation going into the season.
The Spaniard said in a press conference: “I had no doubts about that and if I did I would probably have decided to do something different in the summer if the motivation was just his financial future. It’s not the case with Laca.”
He also does not rule out the possibility of Arsenal offering Lacazette a fresh deal to stay at the club.
Quizzed if it is impossible that the former Lyon man will be given a renewal, he said: “No. Anything is possible.”
