Newcastle United’s recruitment team have pinpointed Everton striker and Arsenal target Dominic Calvert-Lewin as one of their No.1 transfer targets.

The Magpies’ mega-rich new owners are ready to spend whatever it takes in the long-term to turn the club into contenders for the Premier League title.

Dominic has endured a frustrating start to the new campaign and been restricted to just three matches as a consequence of a thigh strain which has prevented the player from building on the showings that helped him secure a place in Gareth Southgate’s UEFA Euro 2020 England roster.

Newcastle have netted just 10 goals in their eight league fixtures thus far this season and will look to strengthen their striking ranks as a priority in the near future and beyond to provide support for current striker Callum Wilson.

Calvert-Lewin has recently emerged as a target of the Gunners’ whose two most senior attackers, club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and the struggling Frenchman Alexandre Lacazette, are already in their 30s.

The former Lyon star has entered the final year of his existing deal and looks almost certain to leave on a free in 2022 with talks over a new contract having stalled.
