Arsenal midfield destoryer Lucas Torreira is set to undergo a medical with Turkish giants Galatasaray in the next 48 hours ahead of finalising a £7.5million move to the club.

The Uruguayan anchorman has spent last term on loan at Fiorentina and he impressed enough for the Italian outfits to wish to buy him on a permanent basis.

However, they couldn’t afford the £12.5m clause in Torreira’s loan contract and Galatasaray have offered the combative playmaker higher wages to move to Turkey.

Torreira joined the North London giants back in 2018 from Sampdoria for a fee of around £23m and he initially impressed fans with his spirited displays.

However, he failed to find a regular position under Unai Emery and he was ostracised under Arteta, who saw no future for him at the team.

Torreira has received significant interest from La Liga, with Valencia and Sevilla both considered him as their target before the end of the summer transfer window.

However, he wants guaranteed first-team football before the World Cup this winter and Galatasaray offer Torreira that opportunity.

The Gunners have signed Fabio Vieira already this summer to further push Lucas Torreira down the pecking order at the Emirates.

Mikel Arteta is pushing the club’s interest in Youri Tielemans and he is confident that the Gunners can win the race for the Belgian.
