Arsenal will be without defender Takehiro Tomiyasu for ‘a few weeks’ after the Japanese star sustained a calf problem ahead of the north London side’s draw against Burnley.

The club played out a 0-0 draw versus the Clarets on Sunday afternoon and Arsenal were without former Bologna ace at the Emirates, with centre-half Ben White filling in at right-back.

He has been a revelation since joining the Gunners and Arsenal have barely noticed the departure of the Spaniard Hector Bellerin, who joined Real Betis on a year-long loan last summer transfer window.

However, they may have to do without Takehiro for a while as Mikel Arteta has revealed he is set for a spell on the sidelines.

‘Tomi had an injury and we didn’t have anybody to play in that position against Liverpool,’ said the manager.

‘He needs to recover and look after himself, to try and be available as quick as he can. He will be out for a few weeks.’

The London giants squandered the opportunity, with the team lacking in ideas and appearing tired against Sean Dyche’s side.

The France international Alexandre Lacazette came the closest to netting the winner but the striker’s effort just narrowly missed the corner after youngster Emile Smith Rowe’s cutback midway through the second half.
