Newcastle United are looking to make a move for Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley in January, according to The Telegraph.
The Magpies are now under the leadership of the richest owners in the Premier League but, while the Saudi-led consortium may have bought the club out, the team are yet to win their first top-flight game of the season.
They are plotting their transfer targets to bring in during the upcoming winter transfer window. The Englishman is one of the six players they are planning on approaching in the near future.
The soon-to-be 28-year-old midfielder has suffered for playing time at Stamford Bridge. He secured a loan move to Aston Villa last term but remained in West London this season.
The player has had the odd-run out and made the difference but has been a roster player at best. He’ll be out of contract in June 2023.
Regardless, the capital side can only make a decision if the St. James’ Park outfit make an official offer next month.
Hoever, with the Spaniard Saul Niguez not impressing on his loan stint and Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante showing what injury can do to the midfield depth, Ross remains a key squad player as of now.
