Barcelona centre-half Ronald Araujo has allegedly emerged as a transfer target for Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea.
The 22-year-old joined Blaugrana from Uruguayan outfit Boston River three years ago and has made 52 senior team appearances for the Catalan side in all competitions.
Ronald has been a key player for his La Liga club this campaign, making 13 appearances, and Xavi’s side are believed to be interested in signing him to a new long-term deal.
However, talks over a fresh contract are not said to be advanced, and the South American’s current terms at the Camp Nou outfit are due to expire in the summer of 2023.
According to a report from a Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, a host of clubs are keeping tabs on the current situation, with the youngster’s agent receiving ‘very interesting’ proposals for his client.
The report continues, by stating that Chelsea are showing an interest in the highly-regarded player, with the London-based giants believing that he has the credentials to thrive in the Premier League.
Chelsea could be in the transfer market for at least one new central defender next summer because of the uncertainty surrounding the long-term futures of Andreas Christensen, Cesar Azpilicueta and Antonio Rudiger.
