Chelsea are battling with their Premier League rivals Arsenal to land the services of Paris Saint-Germain’s Mauro Icardi in January, according to journalist Ekrem Konur.

The Argentina international joined the French outfit in 2019 after six successful seasons at Inter Milan.

However, things haven’t clicked for him at Les Parisiens. Kylian Mbappe and Neymar have been the hotshots at Parc des Princes, and Lionel Messi’s addition this summer has restricted his compatriot’s game-time.

In spite of this, the player has managed to contribute to 46 goals in 77 matches for his team. However, the South American could be heading for the departure door in January itself.

He has rejected a move to Inter Milan and Sampdoria previously, and the Blues are now trying to strike a deal.

They’ll face competition from the Gunners, but Thomas Tuchel’s side are arguably the hotter property in the transfer market, having won the UEFA Champions League last campaign and competing for the PL title this term.

The 28-year-old striker proved his talent in Serie A and has done a respectable job in the French capital. However, England is a different playing ground and he’d need to do well to adjust soon.
