Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku is allegedly facing a month out of action due to the ankle injury he sustained in the Blues’ Champions League win against Malmo on Wednesday night.
The Belgian forward twisted his ankle during the first half while the German star Timo Werner also picked up an injury to leave a cloud over the west London side’s comprehensive 4-0 rout at Stamford Bridge.
According to a report from The Sun, the £98 million summer acquisition now faces a lengthy stint on the sideline which could be a blow to Thomas Tuchel’s side’s chances in the Premier League title hunt.
If Romelu does miss four weeks, then he will miss division games against Norwich City, Newcastle United and Burnley, as well as a League Cup match versus Southampton and the return fixture against the Swedish club.
The former Inter Milan attacker has been struggling in the final third lately with no goals in his previous seven outings after a promising start to his second stint in west London.
Meantime, Chelsea have allegedly edged ahead in the race to land Wrexham teenager Daniel Davies.
The 16-year-old prodigy recently made his debut for Wales U18s, helping his country to a 1-1 draw against England U18s.
The teenager’s showing during that fixture strengthened his chances of earning a transfer to an elite club over the coming months.
According to Goal, the defender has been handed a chance to spend a week on trial at the Blues’ Cobham Training Centre.
