Chelsea apparently had interest in former Netherlands U19 forward

Mohamed Mallahi has revealed his desire to succeed at the Dutch club Utrecht convinced him not to think about joining Chelsea or Leeds United.

The attacker came up through the ranks of Utreg’s academy and has featured in excess of 100 matches for the U21 side, managing 11 goals and providing 10 assists in the process.

Even though the 21-year-old star was included in the match-day roster for league games last campaign, the player had to wait until September to feature in Eredivisie.

According to Voetbalzone, the Champions League winners, the Whites and Ajax were keen on his services. It is not mentioned exactly when they came forward to sign him.

“I didn’t do that [leave Utrecht] because I wanted to break through in the Netherlands and not go abroad too quickly. FC Utrecht seemed like the perfect option to me, to eventually go abroad after all,” he was quoted as saying by Voetbalzone.

Mallahi was born in Utrecht and that surely played in his decision to continue with the local team over joining the likes of Chelsea, Leeds United or Ajax.

“My connection with FC Utrecht and the city also played a role in not going to those clubs. There was confidence, they came up with a good plan and convinced me with it. It’s not easy to make such a decision, you definitely need advice from people around you,” Mohamed explained.

Chelsea remain interested in former RB Salzburg youngster

Chelsea spent more than €100m when landing Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan to strengthen their strike force this campaign.

The Belgian star has four goals to his name in 10 games in all competitions and has not found the back of the net since mid-September.

Former Italy forward Antonio Cassano has suggested Romelu’s struggles are down to Thomas Tuchel’s system, and the star not fitting into it.

In spite of investing big on the former Everton man, the west London club allegedly continue to look for a new centre-forward.

SportBild explains the UEFA Champions League winners are in the running for Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City remain the favourites to sign the Norway sensation, but the must not be ignored.

His impressive scoring record will see Erling draw attention from elite European clubs, particularly due to his €75m exit clause, plus bonuses, that will come into effect from next year.

Elsewhere, Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger has allegedly been left “dissatisfied” that the board have failed to improve on their recent proposal of a new contract.

In spite of his status in Thomas Tuchel’s roster, the 28-year-old star remains with less than nine months remaining on his existing deal.

According to Bild’s Christian Falk, he is disappointed that club senior members haven’t made more of an effort to meet his demands.

Chelsea could lose towering midfielder in January transfer window

Newcastle United have set their eyes on Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek as a possible option to strengthen their midfield unit in the upcoming January transfer market, according to a recent report from 90min.

They have become the big players in the transfer market thanks to the eye-catching takeover of the club two weeks ago, which has meant that there is cash to be splashed to bolster the squad.

Given that they’re languishing in the 19th spot in the Premier League, it is understood that reinforcements are the need of the hour.

Midfield is a zone where Newcastle United could surely do with more quality considering that youngster Joe Willock has failed to reproduce the form from last term while Jonjo Shelvey continues to be erratic and unreliable.

With the likes of Jeff Hendrick and Sean Longstaff also not playing all too well, someone like Ruben has the potential to be a fine addition for the Tyneside outfit.

However, given that he’s slowly forcing his way into the Blues side at the Stamford Bridge outfit, a transfer for him, especially in the January transfer market could be difficult to pull off.
