Chelsea news round-up: Marquinhos interest rekindled, Ziyech drops hint, Mount future update

Chelsea planning to revive attempts to bring in Paris Saint-Germain No.5

Chelsea are keen on Paris Saint-Germain centre-half Marquinhos as manager Thomas Tuchel faces uncertainty at the back in 2022, according to Fichajes.

The German has been an expert in rotating his defensive options, with all his stars playing this season sufficiently across all competitions.

Trevoh Chalobah, Antonio Rudiger, Thiago Silva, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta all take up central roles under the head coach.

The French player Malang Sarr is also in the squad, as the chief has only used the former Nice ace sporadically. However, the Blues might face problems holding on to some key men there next summer.

Andreas, Thiago, Cesar and Antonio are in the final year of their respective deals with the Stamford Bridge outfit, as there are fears the quartet might depart on a free transfer.

The Premier League side are trying their best to tie the aforementioned players down on new contract, although the final outcome is still very much unpredictable.

Because of that, the west Londoners are allegedly interested in Marquinhos. Chelsea supposedly tried to land the Paris Saint-Germain star in the summer transfer window and might return with a suitable proposal.

The former Roma youngster is considered extremely important by the Ligue 1 heavyweights, who are unlikely to sanction a sale easily.

£36m Chelsea recruit hints at future return to Eredivisie giants

Chelsea attacker Hakim Ziyech has revealed that he’d ‘love’ to return to ex-club Ajax in the future if the opportunity presents itself.

The Moroccan star moved to the Blues in a £36 million deal in the summer of 2020 but has struggled to cement himself in the senior team under both Thomas Tuchel and Frank Lampard, having had a host of injury troubles during his time at Stamford Bridge.

He has only netted three PL goals in 30 outings for his team, with playing time often hard to come by because of the plethora of options at the German head coach’s disposal.

Hakim has started to solidify his place in the Blues side more recently, though that hasn’t stopped him being linked with a transfer away with Borussia Dortmund mooted as a possible destination.

De Joden are also in the market for a new attacker and are believed to be interested in Tottenham’s Steven Bergwijn, but Hakim has opened the door to a potential return and is keen to put on an Ajax shirt once again.

Quizzed about a possible return to Amsterdam, he told Ziggo Sport: ‘I would love to. I had a fantastic time there.

‘It’s a place where I have felt at home, and whether it will ever happen, the future will tell. But, if it is up to me, it will definitely happen.

‘That’s not up to me; I leave that to them. I just try to enjoy every day now and do my thing.

‘What the future brings, we’ll see then. But, like I said, I hope it happens one day. Whether it will happen is not up to me.’

Chelsea make contract decision on 22-year-old Englishman

Chelsea are reportedly in no rush to open fresh contract talks with Mason Mount amidst talk that Real Madrid are keen on signing him.

He has been one of the success stories for the club’s academy over the last few seasons and is now one of the certain regular starters in Thomas Tuchel’s side when available and fit.

The midfielder played an important role in Chelsea winning the UEFA Champions League last term and has been one of the top performers of Blues side this season as well.

But there are claims that Los Blancos are interested in landing him with suggestions that the Englishman is not happy with his role in the team.

However, the board are calm about the current situation and they are in no hurry to offer the player a new deal, according to ESPN.

Mason has more than two years left to run on his existing contract and the London side do not feel the need to rush into discussions over an extension.

It has also been stated that Mount is more than happy at his boyhood club and has a good relationship with manager Thomas Tuchel.

The player is focused on further success with the team and is not planning to leave Stamford Bridge any time soon.
