Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Leicester City are lining up proposals for Ajax star Edson Alvarez, Football Insider reports.

The 24-year-old holding midfielder who can also play at centre-half, has established himself as one of de Joden’s top players since arriving from CF America three years ago.

The aforementioned source states that the Blues, the Eagles and the Foxes have all been making systematic checks on Alvarez this campaign.

The Mexico star has been a standout performer for his Dutch club in the Eredivisie and the UEFA Champions League this term and is regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in Europe.

They are keen to keep hold of Edson but know they face a battle to ward off the growing interest in the player this month.

Alvarez is under contract at the Johan Cruijff ArenA until June 2025 and has two goals and an assist in 22 matches across all competitions this term.

Thomas Tuchel’s side may need to dip into the transfer window to add reinforcements at the back with Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christiansen all out of contract in the summer.

The London-based outfit confirmed earlier in January Thiago Silva had agreed on a contract extension until the end of next campaign.
