Newcastle United have joined Chelsea in the hunt to sign Marcelo Brozovic, whose deal expires at the end of the term, according to Tuttosport.

Brozovic’s entourage is demanding a €6.5 million per year contract, but Inter are only prepared to offer €5 million.

It has put a number of clubs on high alert, with the Magpies being the latest team to declare interest in the experienced midfielder.

They are looking for a player, who can offer stability in the midfield and lead the team forward under this new ownership.

The Croatian star surely has the pedigree to do so, having made over 250 competitive appearances for I Nerazzurri during his ongoing six-year stint at the club.

He has lifted the Serie A trophy as well as reached the final of the FIFA World Cup with his country in 2018.

Brozovic’s experience at the highest level of football is the main reason why Newcastle United are not the only club keen on his services.

In fact, they are set to face stern competition from Thomas Tuchel’s side in the pursuit of the player, who has been identified as a target by the German coach, as N’Golo Kante is battling injury problems regularly and is not getting any younger.
