Frank Lampard’s Chelsea are ‘guaranteed’ to finish in the top four of the PL this season, according to Danny Murphy.

The west London giants finished fourth last season and are expected to improve following a summer in which the club signed the likes of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Ben Chilwell.

Danny insists there is ‘more pressure’ on Frank this season given Chelsea’s transfer activity but says the Blues are ‘guaranteed’ to finish in the top four.

Murphy told the Football Index Podcast: ‘There’s certainly going to be more pressure on Frank Lampard to deliver a trophy this season than there was in his first year, particularly with Abramovich bankrolling such a huge spending spree this summer.

‘I don’t think that pressure will impact Lampard at all though because it’s no more than the pressure he puts on himself to succeed. He has a great squad now and there are no excuses not to deliver.

‘They’ve had a few injury problems, but I expect Chelsea to grow and grow as the season progresses and I think they’re guaranteed to finish in the top four.’

Meanwhile, Manchester United will allegedly target Chelsea-linked Paulo Dybala during next summer’s transfer market.

The Argentina international was strongly mentioned with a move to Old Trafford ahead of the 2019-20 term but ultimately remained with Juventus, where he has scored 95 times in 228 games in all competitions.

The 26-year-old is yet to be involved for Bianconeri this season, though, and there is again speculation surrounding his long-term future, with Frank Lampard’s side said to be interested in his services.

However, according to TodoFichajes, the Red Devils are also very much in the hunt for the versatile forward and are planning to launch a move at the end of the current season.
