Man Utd leader could use his links to bring in former Bundesliga youngster

New Manchester United head coach Ralf Rangnick wants to hold discussions over Timo Werner signing for the Red Devils from Chelsea in the summer transfer market, according to German daily Bild.

The Blues beat Liverpool to Timo’s signature after the Anfield side became reluctant to seal a deal, in spite of Jurgen Klopp wanting his compatriot.

However, the striker has struggled to translate his goalscoring form from Germany to England and has managed just 15 goals in 65 outings for his team, a far cry from the 95 goals in 159 matches she managed for RB Leipzig.

Ralf though remains a big admirer of the 25-year-old star and wants to see Werner rejuvenate his career at Old Trafford.

The interim chief is keen for talks over a transfer to be kicked off, in order that his fellow countryman can head to the Theatre of Dreams in the summer.

He enjoys a close relationship with both the player and current Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel.

The former Die Roten Bullen ace though has another four years left to run on his existing deal at Stamford Bridge and the Blues’ management would be likely to demand a substantial sum to allow him to leave.

Man Utd plan surprise approach for 25-year-old Chelsea marksman

Manchester United have allegedly set their sights on landing Chelsea striker Timo Werner, after the arrival of former RB Leipzig head coach and sporting director Ralf Rangnick.

The German attacker has managed one goal in eight PL appearances this campaign and only struck six times in 35 matches during last term’s top-flight campaign.

Sport Witness states that Ralf will oversee major changes at Old Trafford when his interim job finishes in the summer, and his compatriot has been added to a list of transfer targets, along with Erling Braut Haaland.

Ralf signed the Blues man for Die Roten Bullen back in 2016 and he is said to trust the ‘sensible striker’ as the player performed well for the Bundesliga outfit during his four-year stint at the Red Bull Arena.

It is stated that it won’t be an easy task to convince the capital outfit into letting the struggling attacker join the Red Devils, but strong links between Ralf and Timo may persuade the versatile player.

In total, Werner has netted 15 goals and provided 16 assists in 64 outings for his side.

In the meantime, Barcelona senior figure Ferran Reverter has stated that he is optimistic Manchester United’s Ousmane Dembele will extend his deal with the club.

“Of course we can renew Dembele. “It could take a little longer on the operational side because we have to look at it in detail.” he said.

“There is no doubt that Barcelona will sign or can sign [players] in January and the summer.”

New Premier League rivals caretaker manager wants £54m Chelsea signing

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick is reportedly ‘keen to discuss’ the landing of Chelsea forward Timo Werner with the management.

The ex-Lokomotiv Moscow chief was appointed interim boss for the remainder of the campaign earlier this week and he will take on a two-year consultancy position at Old Trafford from next year.

He’ll advise the hierarchy on all football decisions, including recruitment. The 63-year-old Ralf is known to have one of the cleverest tacticians in world football but Rangnick’s expertise in recruitment is also highly-rated.

He managed Werner during his time at the Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig and the Blues star understands the manager’s high-press philosophy.

Timo has struggled at Stamford Bridge since completing a £54m transfer to West London in 2020, scoring just seven PL goals in 43 outings.

Ralf, therefore, wants to discuss a swoop for Werner with his board, according to a report from Sport Bild, though any transfer will have to wait until next summer as Thomas Tuchel’s side wouldn’t consider proposals in the January transfer window.

The Red Devils are well stocked in forward roles but Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani are likely to leave at the end of the term, while Jesse Lingard could be axed next month.

Ireland great on Chelsea potentially offloading German star

Former Chelsea forward Tony Cascarino has warned striker Timo Werner that he’s running out of time to save his Stamford Bridge career after his latest struggles in the latest draw with domestic rivals Manchester United.

He attracted criticism from Alan Shearer, Roy Keane and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink following last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Jimmy called his performance ‘poor’ and said the German ‘keeps missing big chances’, while Roy claimed Werner is ‘not a natural goalscorer’ after the player wasted two opportunities.

Much was expected of Timo following his £47.5 million move from RB Leipzig last year but wayward finishing has been a common theme in his Blues career to date.

That being said, he did help Thomas Tuchel’s side win the UEFA Champions League, secure a top-four finish and reach the FA Cup final last term, with the 25-year-old’s work off the ball praised by the head coach and many pundits.

But Cascarino says the ex-Die Roten Bullen ace remains a ‘problem’ for his team and has tipped his former club to land a replacement for the attacker unless he improves quickly.

‘Chelsea should have put Manchester United away but they have a problem in Timo Werner, whose touch just isn’t top level, and whose finishing is worse,’ Tony told The Times.

‘I think managers should stick by strikers but the truth is that it is less likely to happen at the big clubs like Chelsea.

‘Once they have decided Werner isn’t good enough, they have the money to buy a replacement. I wonder if they will soon get to that point with him.

‘At the moment I don’t see him having even the impact that Fernando Torres did at Chelsea, and that was a real disappointment at the time.’

Chelsea face battle to keep £272,000-a-week all-around attacker

Barcelona are reportedly thinking about targeting either Chelsea’s Germany international Timo Werner or Manchester United centre-forward Edinson Cavani during the January transfer market.

The Catalan side, in spite of their financial problems, are looking to boost their attack at the start of the new year and appear to have ended their interest in Manchester City’s struggling winger Raheem Sterling.

According to a report from a Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Blaugrana could now switch their attention to either Timo or Edinson to strengthen their squad, with manager Xavi desperate to bring in fresh faces in the final third of the pitch.

The Uruguayan’s current deal with the Red Devils is due to expire next summer, and it has been stated that the La Liga outfit are lining up a £5 million move for the South American.

Timo, however, still has three and a half years left to run on his existing deal at Stamford Bridge, and the 25-year-old star has been a regular this campaign, making 11 appearances across all competitions.

There have been suggestions that summer signing Sergio Aguero could be forced to confirm his retirement from professional football because of his heart problems.

La Liga emerges as potential destination for Chelsea striker

Barcelona are allegedly interested in landing Chelsea flop Timo Werner on loan in the winter transfer window.

The German star has struggled to adjust to English football since arriving at Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer market of 2020.

Yet in spite of his poor form in the Premier League, he remains a desirable acquisition for many sides around Europe.

And, according to Marca, Blaugrana have now emerged as a possible location for the 25-year-old attacker in January.

New manager Xavi, who took over from the Dutch tactician Ronald Koeman last week, has already been hit with a forward crisis at the Camp Nou.

The Denmark international Martin Braithwaite is continuing to recover from an injury, with summer signing Sergio Aguero also out indefinitely.

Prodigy Ansu Fati is struggling with fitness woes and Luke de Jong is allegedly not favoured by the new Barca chief.

As a result, they’re looking for a new focal point to the attack and Werner is understood to fit the mould.

However, because of the Catalan side’s crippling financial situation, they’d only be looking to bring the Blues man in on loan.

As well as Timo, Barca have also been mentioned with a couple of other Premier League forwards.

These include Manchester City’s England international Raheem Sterling and Arsenal attacker Alexandre Lacazette.

Barcelona plan to make approach for £47m Chelsea transfer flop

Barcelona are interested in acquiring the services of Chelsea forward Timo Werner in the January transfer market, according to The Sun.

They are understood to be looking up targets to strengthen their squad following the arrival of club icon Xavi Hernandez as head coach.

The German international striker joined the London side from RB Leipzig in the summer transfer market of 2020 for a fee of £47.6 million.

Since the transfer, he has hit 14 goals and picked up 16 assists in 62 appearances in all competitions. However, the player hasn’t met the expectations in front of the goal thus far.

Timo has had a mixed time at the Premier League heavyweights because of his struggles in terms of goals.

However, Werner has fared well in setting up his club teammates or making off the ball runs to pull centre-halves and full-backs.

Blaugrana are said to be keen on him to replace Sergio Aguero, who signed for them earlier this summer.

The Argentine star suffered breathing problems during a La Liga match and is out for multiple months due to recovery.

Given the Catalans’ financial problems, it is unlikely that they’d pay a decent amount for Chelsea man.

His struggles are well known, and the Spanish outfit may hope to get the former Die Rotten Bullen ace at a discounted price.

Borussia Dortmund keen on snaring several Chelsea players

Marco Rose’s Borussia Dortmund have made plans to land three of Chelsea’s attacking stars, according to a recent report.

The Bundesliga side are bracing themselves for the exit of the Norway international Erling Braut Haaland, who is on Chelsea’s transfer wishlist, and are already searching for successors for generational talent.

BVB manager is keen to sign a new centre-forward and a winger to strengthen his attacking options when Erling does leave the club.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Blues trio Timo Werner, Callum Hudson-Odoi and former Die Borussen man Christian Pulisic are all high on their watchlist.

Werner is understood to be considering his long-term future at Stamford Bridge following the arrival of the Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku in the summer transfer market, which has limited Timo to just four Premier League starts thus far this season.

Callum, in spite of being highly rated by the west London giants, is also struggling for playing time and has played only three times in the division in the 2021-22 term.

Meanwhile, Christian hasn’t featured since the opening weekend of the season – when he netted against Crystal Palace – having sustained an ankle injury.

Domestic rivals chasing 25-year-old German star of Chelsea

Timo Werner has emerged as a surprise target for Newcastle United as the club look to splash the newfound cash in 2022, according to a recent report from Fichajes.

The Magpies aims to add some much-needed firepower in the final third that has struggled with a lack of goals under manager Steve Bruce.

They believe the German could be the possible solution to their problem, even though Timo has emerged as a much-maligned figure in West London because of his struggles in front of goals.

After coming from RB Leipzig in a big-money deal last season, Werner only netted six goals in his debut season in Premier League with Chelsea.

The Magpies share the same attitude towards Timo, as the side desperately look to bring in an upgrade over Joelinton.

As for Thomas Tuchel’s side, they are unlikely to be fazed by the exit of Werner, who has failed to make an impression at Stamford Bridge.

The former Die Roten Bullen star has now even fallen down the pecking order after the arrival of centre-forward Romelu Lukaku, so the player’s exit could, in fact, be good for the Blues.

Timo, though, is not the only option for the domestic rivals. Newcastle United are also in the transfer market for another struggling attacker in Manchester United’s Anthony Martial.

Chelsea face battle to retain services of struggling Germany international

Newcastle United have pinpointed Chelsea forward Timo Werner as a possible recruit, while the star’s agency are in regular touch with the Magpies.

Having been purchased by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, the club are expected to make significant investments to bolster their squad in the immediate future.

While appointing a new head coach and a sporting director are currently high on the wishlist, the Magpies have been mentioned with a number of players since the takeover.

There have been reports that the new owners are keen to give the club an elite English spine, while the side have also been touted with an interest in top talents across the continent.

According to German outlet Bild, Timo is one player Newcastle United hold an interest in ahead of the January transfer window.

Blues man’s agency already have a client at the St. James’ Park outfit in Fabian Schar and are understood to be in regular contact with them.

With the winter transfer market fast approaching, it remains to be seen if they intend to step up their reported interest in the German in January.

Werner has netted two goals and provided one assist from eight games across all competitions for Chelsea this campaign.
