Chelsea No.9 may miss five matches in row with ankle problem

Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku is allegedly facing a month out of action due to the ankle injury he sustained in the Blues’ Champions League win against Malmo on Wednesday night.

The Belgian forward twisted his ankle during the first half while the German star Timo Werner also picked up an injury to leave a cloud over the west London side’s comprehensive 4-0 rout at Stamford Bridge.

According to a report from The Sun, the £98 million summer acquisition now faces a lengthy stint on the sideline which could be a blow to Thomas Tuchel’s side’s chances in the Premier League title hunt.

If Romelu does miss four weeks, then he will miss division games against Norwich City, Newcastle United and Burnley, as well as a League Cup match versus Southampton and the return fixture against the Swedish club.

The former Inter Milan attacker has been struggling in the final third lately with no goals in his previous seven outings after a promising start to his second stint in west London.

Meantime, Chelsea have allegedly edged ahead in the race to land Wrexham teenager Daniel Davies.

The 16-year-old prodigy recently made his debut for Wales U18s, helping his country to a 1-1 draw against England U18s.

The teenager’s showing during that fixture strengthened his chances of earning a transfer to an elite club over the coming months.

According to Goal, the defender has been handed a chance to spend a week on trial at the Blues’ Cobham Training Centre.

Chelsea announce arrival of Belgium centre-forward in £97.5m deal

Chelsea have officially confirmed the club-record signing of the Belgium international Romelu Lukaku from the Serie A giants Inter Milan in a £97.5m deal, ending their long pursuit of a new marksman to spearhead the attack.

Manager Thomas Tuchel had made a new number nine his top transfer priority this summer but the Blues were unable to prise top target, Erling Haaland, away from Borussia Dortmund.

That saw them turn to Romelu, who spent three years at Stamford Bridge previously, and despite the Nerazzurri being very reluctant to sell the club managed to secure a mammoth deal for the Belgian.

The 28-year-old star has put pen to paper on a five-year deal in west London.

On the attacker’s arrival, Chelsea senior member Marina Granovskaia said: ‘Romelu Lukaku is quite simply one of the world’s best strikers and goalscorers.

‘We are absolutely delighted to be bringing him back to the club he loves, and are excited to be adding his talent to our Champions League-winning squad.

‘We are of course looking to build on last season’s success, and Lukaku will play a big role in achieving our targets. I’m sure all Chelsea fans will join me in saying welcome home, Romelu!’

The sum falls just short of the £100 million Manchester City paid for Jack Grealish a few days ago, though eclipses the previous club-record fee Chelsea paid Bayer Leverkusen to land Kai Havertz last summer.

Former Manchester United striker inches closer to Chelsea move

Romelu Lukaku’s departure from the Serie A champions Inter Milan has moved a step closer after the player agreed to personal terms with Chelsea.

According to Football London, the Belgian is ready to pen a five-year contract as soon as talks between the two clubs are completed.

The Blues are preparing a revised offer of at least £100 million for the centre-forward, which they expect the Nerazzurri to accept.

Once the fee is finalised, Romelu will return to his former club on a deal rumoured to be worth £212,000 per week.

The Italians are under pressure to sell key men to help address their rising debt but have only sold Achraf Hakimi for a sizeable fee thus far this summer.

The Moroccan wing-back signed for Paris Saint-Germain in a £51.3 million deal at the end of a title-winning campaign in Italy.

Milan Skriniar, Lautaro Martinez, Nicolo Barella and Stefan de Vrij are other valuable assets being closely watched by several clubs as the transfer market nears its conclusion.

In their pursuit of a high-class striker, Chelsea had been mentioned with Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland and Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane.

But Romelu emerged as their preferred target after a brilliant two years in Serie A, during which he netted 64 goals in 95 games across all competitions.

Inter Milan man preparing for ‘record-breaking’ Chelsea move

Chelsea target Romelu Lukaku reportedly feels he has unfinished business at Stamford Bridge as the forward gears up for a record-breaking transfer.

The 28-year-old was happy to remain at Inter Milan this summer’s transfer window but looks set for a last-gasp return to West London.

While the Nerazzurri have just won Serie A, the club are struggling financially and they have set a £100m asking price for the striker.

Chelsea are ready to cough up the dough, with Thomas Tuchel poised to add a recognised striker this summer to his UCL winning side.

Harry Kane and Erling Haaland were both targets for Chelsea but Lukaku looks the most realistic summer deal to pull off at this stage.

The 28-year-old is keen on a return to the former club, according to The Sun.

While he is settled in Italy, he acknowledges this could be his final big move and he is determined to prove himself once more in England.

He feels he’ll be valued at the Premier League club and will relish being their main man up front.

Roman Abramovich views the ex-Manchester United striker as the perfect man to lead a title charge and Chelsea senior figures hope Lukaku will be the key to them pipping Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City to Premier League glory.

Romelu made just 10 Premier League appearances in his first stint at Stamford Bridge, before being offloaded to Everton for £28m.

Chelsea keeping close tabs with 28-year-old Serie A centre-forward

The London giants reportedly offered Marcos Alonso plus €100m in an audacious attempt to prise Romelu Lukaku away from San Siro, but the Nerazzurri swiftly rejected the offer.

Erling Haaland has been at the top of the Blues’ shortlist of attacking targets for much of this transfer window, with the German manager on the battle for a proven striker and goalscorer to mount a serious trophy challenge this coming campaign.

But Borussia Dortmund’s eye-watering £150m asking price for the 21-year-old striker has led Chelsea to instead focus their efforts on securing a return for Belgium international, who was recently on the Blues’ books from 2011 to 2014 but failed to make an impact before leaving to join Everton.

Lukaku also struggled to live up to expectations across two years with Man United but has since got his career back on track and established himself as one of the most lethal strikers in European football.

The Blues have made it clear they would be prepared to part with €100m, plus out-of-favour defender Marcos Alonso, to bring Romelu back to Chelsea, but their attempts to reach a deal have so far been unsuccessful. The report suggests Chelsea could come back with a follow-up offer for the 28-year-old striker.

It would be left up to the Belgian centre-forward to decide his future if the Nerazzurri’s demands are met before the transfer window closes.

Romelu has, though, given no indication that the striker would be prepared to force his way out of Inter Milan to seal a come back to Stamford Bridge and is happy with life in the Serie A, with just Cristiano Ronaldo outscoring him last season.

Inter Milan slapped €120m price tag on Chelsea transfer target

Inter are asking for at least €120m from Chelsea for centre-forward Romelu Lukaku, reports in Italy say. The London giants are in the market for a new number nine and have identified the Norway ace, Erling Haaland, as their top target.

However, Borussia Dortmund are adamant that their prized asset will remain with them for at least one more term, while the Blues would need to pay in the region of £160 million in order to sign him this summer.

Romelu is also on Chelsea’s wishlist and the club had hoped that a summer deal for the Belgium international would be more feasible considering Inter’s need to balance their finances before the transfer market ends.

However, Tuttosport claim that the Serie A outfit are now looking to retain their key players having sold Achraf Hakimi in a €71m deal earlier this month.

The report states that Chelsea would need to table an offer of at least €120m in order to tempt I Nerazzurri into agreeing to a sale. Lukaku has scored 64 goals in 95 matches for the Italian club and played a vital role in the team’s Serie A title win last campaign.

Chelsea will need to smash club record to land Belgium No.9 striker

Inter are asking for at least €120 million (£102.5 million) from Chelsea for centre-forward Romelu Lukaku, reports in Italy say.

Chelsea heavily involved in negotiations to bring in former striker

Chelsea are reportedly in ‘hot’ discussions with Inter Milan over the possible signing of Romelu Lukaku.

Thomas Tuchel wants a new number nine after allowing Olivier Giroud to depart and while Erling Haaland is the club’s preferred target, the Blues appear to be making contingencies behind the scenes.

The west Londoners have been quiet in the transfer market so far. Unlike in the latest years, when Chelsea have spent with enthusiasm, they are yet to recruit a marquee name.

The London giants know they need a new centre-forward to replace Giroud, who was allowed to sign for AC Milan for £2 million last week. As things stand, Erling is their top target.

However, with the Borussia Dortmund ace valued at £150 million and with the Bundesliga outfit in no mood to sell, they are looking at alternatives and The Sun say they are in ‘hot’ talks with the Nerazzurri over a potential deal for Lukaku.

The Belgium attacker previously insisted he was happy to remain at the San Siro, in spite of the agonising departure of Antonio Conte as boss.

Express Sport was told earlier in the season that Lukaku was happy with life in Milan and had no plans to return to the Premier League.

But, despite that, it seems the Blues are doing everything they can to ensure the marksman returns to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea will not able to re-sign Belgium forward they sold for £28m

Chelsea have been handed a blow in their hopes to land Romelu Lukaku as the striker’s representative has indicated that Inter Milan are not planning to sell this summer.

The Belgium centre-forward is on Chelsea’s list of targets with Thomas Tuchel wants the club to recruit a new number nine before the end of the window.

Erling Haaland is the Blues’ priority candidate but Borussia Dortmund are adamant that the Norway sensation will be sticking with them for at least one more year.

With a potential deal for Erling likely to cost at least £150 million, the London side are considering re-signing Lukaku, who the Blues sold to Everton for £28 million back in 2014.

Earlier this summer, the Nerazzurri had been desperate to sell key men in order to balance their finances but the Serie A giants have since managed to sell Achraf Hakimi to Paris Saint-Germain for an initial €60 million (£51.3m), plus a further €10 million (£8.5m) in add-ons.

And now Lukaku’s entourage, Federico Pastorello, who met with Inter’s board this week, claims the Italian outfit are no longer looking to approve any more high-profile exits.

‘It went well, we took stock of various situations,’ he told FCInterNews when asked about his meeting.

Quizzed if Inter are ‘calm’ about their situation surrounding the future of Lukaku, Pastorello replied: ‘Yes, sure, sure.

‘Romelu is on vacation and I think he deserves a holiday like he’s taking, there are no problems.’
