Arsenal £72m signing could depart from club this month

Arsenal attacker Nicolas Pepe has allegedly tasked his representative with securing him a transfer away from the north London outfit this summer.

The 26-year-old Ivory Coast international has failed to live up to expectations since his eye-catching £72 million move from Lille three years ago.

This term, the forward has featured sporadically for his team, struggling to get in the Gunners team ahead of Bukayo Saka.

According to Football.London, he wants to leave the club in the next transfer market and has told the entourage to sort out a transfer to another outfit.

The report adds that the management are expected to listen to proposals for the former Les Dogues player.

Mikel Arteta has already hinted at a couple of signings being made, with the capital giants needing a larger roster for European competition next term.

When quizzed last month if he anticipates an active summer, the Spanish tactician said: ‘I am expecting so, yes.

‘I think both competitions [the Champions League and Europa League] require a much larger squad because the amount of games you play is much bigger in both, so I don’t think [which you qualify for] makes a lot of difference or changes a lot.

‘If you can financially afford it and we don’t have to do the turnaround in the squad that we’ve had to do, if you ask me what I want it’s 22 outfield players and three goalkeepers.

‘You have to come a long way in the aspects that you see on the pitch, it’s a lot of things that have to be put in place, and that takes time.’

Arsenal set to listen to offers for €30m-rated forward

Arsenal could be on the verge of offloading Nicolas Pepe in the summer. The Gunners are desperate to get rid of the 27-year-old forward following his struggles at the London club. His agents have already started finding new suitors for Nicolas, with PSG being one of the possible destinations.

The Parisians have indeed been offered the chance to add Pepe in the coming summer. PSG’s incoming sporting director Luis Campos knows Ivory Coast international well and is open to incorporating him as part of the new-look PSG set up to be led by Mbappe next campaign.

The Ivorian is well aware of the French top-flight, having racked up 37 goals and 18 assists during his successful time at Lille. Unfortunately, the Ivorian winger has never been able to replicate his success at Emirates Stadium, often struggling to get to grips with English football.

In his ongoing three-year spell at Arsenal, the African forward has scored just 27 goals in 112 competitive games. These are quite underwhelming numbers for a footballer who arrived at Emirates Stadium for a club-record fee. And in light of his terrible displays, the former Lille forward has predictably lost the faith of the Spanish tactician.

Pepe has made just five starts in the PL throughout the recently concluded 2021/22 season. Even Nicolas himself is reportedly keen on leaving Arsenal in order to revive his career elsewhere.

Ligue 1 giants handed chance to bring in Arsenal transfer flop

Arsenal have had enough of forward Nicolas Pepe and have offered him to the Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain, according to a French outlet Foot Mercato.

The Ivorian signed for the Gunners for a club-record £72 million three years ago. A lot was expected of the player after his sensational final term at Lille, but things just have not worked out for the player in North London.

In 112 appearances for his side, Pepe has scored 21 times and provided 27 assists across all competitions.

Youngster Bukayo Saka is the team’s undisputed first-choice right wide man. That isn’t going to change as long as he is at the club, which is why Mikel Arteta and co. want Pepe gone in the summer.

The report says that they have ‘lost patience’ with the 26-year-old and don’t believe it is worth keeping him at the Emirates Stadium anymore.

He will enter the final 24 months of his contract next month, and the Spanish tactician feels it is the right time to sell him.

Nicolas has already been offered to a couple of clubs, including Les Parisiens. The French giants are looking to replace outgoing Angel Di Maria, and Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele is their priority target.

Sevilla chasing signature of £72m flop who leaning towards Arsenal exit

Sevilla have begun talks with Arsenal to land Nicolas Pepe this summer’s transfer window, according to reports.

The Ivorian star has struggled to make an impact at the Emirates since his £72 million transfer from Lille in 2019.

The 26-year-old attacker has started just five matches in the Premier League this term and has not been able to secure a regular role in the Gunners side.

It’s understood that Mikel Arteta and co. are willing to sell the player this summer and are willing to take a significant hit on their £72 million outlay, with reports stating that a £25 million offer could be enough to convince the London outfit.

According to SuperDeporte, Los Nervinenses’ sporting director Monchi has pinpointed Pepe as a potential summer recruit and he has already sounded out the English club to discuss a deal for the wide man.

However, the Spaniards have already made it clear to the Premier League giants that while they’d be willing to sign Nicolas, they are not ready to pay an exorbitant transfer sum.

The ex-Les Dogues ace latest appearance for his team came as a second-half substitute in the 2-1 win over Leeds United on Sunday.

Arsenal transfer flop advised to change clubs by former Gunner

Former Arsenal attacker Kevin Campbell thinks Nicolas Pepe has no future at the Emirates with the star having not started a PL match for six months.

The 26-year-old was signed by the club three years ago for over £70 million but has failed to make a mark at the Gunners since his move from Lille.

This campaign he has hardly featured under head coach Mikel Arteta, making just 17 top-flight appearances.

Kevin believes the Ivory Coast international was over-priced, pointing out that the wide man doesn’t possess the correct attitude to play at his old side.

Speaking to Football Insider, Kevin said: ‘Arsenal paid over the odds for him. It has just not worked out. It is that simple. He is a talented player, that’s for sure. But it has not worked out for him.

‘You see the intensity and focus that Mikel Arteta wants the team to play with. I don’t think Pepe fits into that. He is a drifter. He will concentrate for a bit and then drift out again.

‘I said just before Christmas it was a big few months coming up for Pepe. It was going to determine whether or not he had a future at Arsenal. Well, he doesn’t have a future at Arsenal.’

£72m transfer flop seeks face-to-face meeting with Arsenal

Arsenal’s Nicolas Pepe is ready for talks with the club at the end of the campaign as both sides attempt to settle his Emirates future.

Since joining from Lille three seasons ago for a club-record £72 million sum, the 26-year-old has failed to live up to the billing at the club and, this term has fallen out-of-favour with boss Mikel Arteta, featuring in just 17 Premier League matches.

The Ivory Coast international has just two years left on his deal and, according to The Evening Standard, could depart the London outfit with the hierarchy planning further incomings in the summer.

In spite of spending over £150 million last year on the likes of Aaron Ramsdale nad Martin Odegaard, the Spanish boss reportedly wants to bring in two forwards when the transfer market opens which could see the former Les Dogues ace’s opportunities lessen even further.

Speaking a few weeks ago, the wide man divulged his unhappiness at a lack of game time this season.

Nicolas said: ‘The most important thing is to enjoy your football. That is something I am able to do when I get the chance to play.

‘It is happening at international level and a bit less so at club level. It is frustrating not to play. No player enjoys not playing but I have to respect the coach’s decision.

‘When a team is winning it is hard for a coach to make changes. Mikel has explained that to me and I know I have to work hard in training to get more playing time.

‘The coach knows what I think and how hard I am working. It is also about communication. Sometimes it is not easy to communicate with the language barrier. It has been a tough season for me.’

Arsenal ready to offload Ivory Coast international for £25m

Arsenal will reportedly try to sell Nicolas Pepe in the summer as the Gunners look to strengthen boss Mikel Arteta’s transfer budget.

Nicolas has made only 17 Premier League outings this season, with Bukayo Saka becoming regular in the right-wing position for the team.

This summer market, the club are aiming to bolster their roster and will target possibly two strikers, a central midfielder and a right-back.

According to a recent report from The Sun, the English giants will now look to move the 26-year-old star on at the end of the term even if it means settling for a sum in the region of £25m with the Ivory Coast international one of few current out-of-favour players worth a notable transfer amount.

Nicolas has been a huge disappointment since signing from Lille three years ago for a club-record sum of £72m. A difficult maiden season at the club was improved upon in 2021 when he netted 16 goals in all competitions.

But, with the Premier League side having no European football this season, he has found opportunities hard to come by and hasn’t started a division game for Arsenal in over six months.

Arsenal ready to sell ivory Coast international for just £25m

Arsenal are allegedly willing to accept offers of £25 million for attacker Nicolas Pepe in the summer.

The club’s most expensive recruit has been restricted to a bit-part role under manager Mikel Arteta this term because of the strong form of Emile Smith Rowe, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, starting just five matches in the Premier League.

The Spaniard claimed to have seen a “different” Nicolas since his return from the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, but the Ivorian still usually finds himself among the substitutes in the Gunners dugout.

In spite of forking out £72 million to sign him from the Ligue 1 outfit Lille in the summer transfer window of 2019, Calciomercato now states that the Londoners will only demand a €30 million (£25.1 million) figure to part company with Pepe.

The 26-year-old star recently hinted that his long-term future may lie away from the Emirates, where the winter now has more than two years left to run on his present contract.

He has scored 27 goals and set up 20 more in 107 matches for his team across all competitions, but the ex-Les Dogues youngster has only registered one goal and one assist in 15 top-flight outings this term.
