Liverpool backed to sign former Monaco and Anderlecht prodigy

Paul Robinson has claimed Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans “fits the bill” for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool after the Belgian star opened the door on a move.

Speaking to Football Insider, the former England and Tottenham number one said the Anfield side need to sign a central midfielder in 2022 after Georginio Wijnaldum left for the Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the 24-year-old revealed he’s “keeping his options open” as Youri negotiates the terms of a new deal at the King Power Stadium. The midfielder has two years on his existing contract with the Foxes.

Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad claimed in the spring that Jurgen Klopp had placed Youri on a shortlist of possible replacements for the Dutchman.

When quizzed if a move could materialise next year, Robinson said: “It’s a position that Liverpool are light in. They need reinforcements in that area. They really miss Wijnaldum.

“It is an area they could do with an extra body and Tielemans would absolutely fit that bill. He’s a top-class player.

“It will be interesting to see what Liverpool do because they did not spend heavily in the summer. It’s going to be an interesting January window for Liverpool.”

Man Utd in three-club battle to sign 24-year-old Premier League star

Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans is drawing interest from Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid, while the Foxes are desperate to tie the Belgian down to a long-term deal at the King Power stadium.

The 24-year-old has become an important figure at the heart of Brendan Rodgers’ side, netting the winning goal in their FA Cup final win over Chelsea last season, and claiming the award of the club’s Player of the Season.

Fabrizio Romano states that another trio of European heavyweights are hoping to land Youri next year, with the Red Devils, Los Blancos and Blaugrana all strong admirers of the player.

90min has previously claimed that Leicester City have been confident since June of persuading the star to commit his future to them with a long-term contract.

Discussions began earlier this year but were shelved until after UEFA Euro 2020 after failing to reach a full agreement before the tournament.

They could yet face a major battle to retain his services next summer, with some of the continent’s biggest clubs ready to have another crack at luring the midfielder away.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are in need of a midfielder and were mentioned with Eduardo Camavinga, Ruben Neves and Yves Bissouma during the summer.

West Ham’s Declan Rice has also been a long-term target for United, but Tielemans has also been linked with the 20-time English champions in the past as well.

Man Utd renew interest in one of Leicester City key players

Manchester United are reportedly eyeing up a move for Leicester City star Youri Tielemans.

The 24-year-old midfielder is being eyed as a possible replacement for Paul Pogba should the Frenchman depart.

According to Utd Report, the Belgian is one to watch for the future for the 20-time English champions.

He scored a brilliant goal in May’s FA Cup final and has been an important player for the Foxes since joining in 2019.

United were touted with an interest in Youri before he signed for the Foxes.

And the interest has been maintained with United and Liverpool linked to him during the summer transfer window.

Brendan Rodgers’ side hope to tie him down to a fresh deal to deter that interest.

And the club will likely drive a hard bargain to let their prized asset leave, having signed the youngster for a club-record £40 million fee.

But if Pogba quits United will be in desperate need of a player in the midfield.

Real Madrid are understood to be eyeing Pogba on a free contract next year, when his contract expires.

The Spanish outfit offloaded a number of players this summer and cut their hefty wage bill in preparation for big-name acquisitions next season.

Liverpool urged to snare £40m Leicester City recruit by former midfielder

The Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp has written in The Daily Mail that he’d love Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to land Youri Tielemans from Leicester City.

He believes that Jurgen Klopp’s side have a good midfield department. However, Jamie has said that he would to see his former club bring Belgium international Tielemans to Anfield.

The former Liverpool man wrote in The Daily Mail: “I’m surprised they didn’t bolster their midfield this summer though. James Milner is like Peter Pan, the way he never ages, and we hope Jordan Henderson stays healthy.

“Then there’s Fabinho and Thiago. But I would have loved to see someone like Youri Tielemans snapped up.”

Youri has actually been linked with a transfer to Liverpool in the summer transfer market.

Het Nieuwsblad reported two months ago that the Reds want to snap up the 24-year-old as a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum.

The new Premier League campaign has already started, and it’s really hard to see the Foxes let go of one of their key men now.

Boss Brendan Rodgers will want to keep all of his star players in the team and won’t want to sell Tielemans at all.

They paid AS Monaco £40 million to land Tielemans on a permanent contract in the summer transfer market of 2019, according to The Guardian.

The midfielder has netted 12 goals in 88 appearances in the English top-flight so far in his professional career.

Arsenal urged to bolster midfield by landing impressive Leicester City duo

Martin Keown thinks Arsenal should be looking to land Wilfred Ndidi or Youri Tielemans ahead of their Leicester City teammate James Maddison.

Manager Mikel Arteta is eager to bring in Maddison this summer but the Foxes are under no pressure to cash in on one of their prized assets.

With the playmaker’s stock high after an impressive 2020-21 season, it is thought an offer of at least £70 million would be needed to even think about doing business.

Arsenal’s campaign started in abysmal fashion last week, losing 2-0 to newcomers Brentford.

Based on Friday night’s evidence, Arsenal legend Martin Keown says Arteta should be focusing on signing a player who can provide some much needed ‘steel’ to the Gunners midfield, rather than focusing on attacking zones.

And he named Belgium international Tielemans, mentioned with a move to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool this summer, as one option, along with Foxes star Ndidi.

‘The missing ingredient for Arsenal tonight was steel so I’m not sure Maddison is the player we should be going for,’ Martin told Stadium Astro.

‘If I am going to Leicester, I’m going for Tielemans or Ndidi, I’m not going for Maddison because Arsenal need that type of player first.’

Belgium star poised to seal £64m summer transfer to Liverpool

Youri Tielemans is reportedly pushing the Leicester City board to allow him to complete his dream transfer to Liverpool this summer.

The 24-year-old midfielder is a key target for Jurgen Klopp as he plans to replace Georgino Wijnaldium who left the club earlier this summer.

That departure leaves a big hole in Liverpool’s midfield and the German believes Tielemans could be the ideal man to plug it.

He will not come cheap however, with Mail Sport reporting that the Foxes will hold out for £64 million for the Belgium international.

But Belgian source Voetbal 24 claim the Reds are prepared to meet that valuation, with Youri himself pushing for a move.

The outlet adds that a transfer could be completed quickly with the player making it clear to all sides that he wishes to move.

Leicester paid Monaco £32 million for Tielemans two years ago, becoming one of the division’s top midfielders since his arrival.

He capped an impressive 2020/21 campaign with a man of the match display versus Chelsea in the FA Cup final, which included a brilliant 30-yard strike.

All things considered, landing him would perhaps be the most impressive of all mooted Georginio Wijnaldum replacements.

Liverpool firm up interest in Belgium ace by starting transfer talks

The last few weeks have seen Liverpool heavily linked with a swoop for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans.

It had initially been reported that the Belgium was keen to sign for the Reds after missing out on the Champions League.

Youri is a fantastic talent and enjoyed an incredible campaign with the Foxes last term, netting the winning goal in the FA Cup final.

The latest reports are now stating that Liverpool have entered transfer discussions to sign the midfielder.

According to journalist Daniel Nielson, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo, the Anfield side are trying to negotiate a lower sum.

For fans, it is great news to hear considering the need to strengthen in midfield after Gini Wijnaldum’s departure this month.

As Nielson reports, Liverpool will have to sell some out-of-favour players in the squad, including this £50 million trio.

If the Reds can negotiate a fee, if the news is accurate, then personal terms should be no issue for them.

The Express have claimed that Manchester United are also keen on the player and are prepared to battle it out.

With a hefty fee still likely for Tielemans, the Merseyside giants will no doubt try and negotiate a lower asking price.

Liverpool backed to snap up £49.5m-rated Premier League star

Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans would be a “brilliant” replacement for outgoing Georginio Wijnaldum at Liverpool, according to Kevin Campbell.

The ex-Arsenal and Everton striker, speaking to Football Insider, claimed the 24-year-old star would “fit perfectly” into Jurgen Klopp’s side next term.

The Dutchman is on the verge of completing a transfer to Barcelona after he failed to reach an agreement with the Reds regarding a new contract.

It comes after Football Insider reported that a summer deal was “95 per cent done” at the beginning of March.

Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad reported last week that the Anfield side are keen on Tielemans as a possible replacement for Wijnaldum and a source has told Football Insider that the club have registered their interest.

The Belgian star was one of the Foxes’ standout performers in the 2020-21 season, with nine goals and six assists to his name in 51 matches across all competitions.

When quizzed by Football Insider if Youri would be a welcome addition at the club, Campbell said: “Tielemans would be a brilliant signing.

“I think he would fit in at Liverpool perfectly. He will add more of a goal threat as well, especially from range.

“He is a very good footballer and he would be very capable filling the void left by Wijnaldum.”
