Sporting CP have reignited their interest in Liverpool forward Rafael Camacho, who is determined to leave Anfield this summer transfer window.
Rafael, who has just a one year remaining on his existing contract at Anfield outfit, wants to make the transfer away from the Reds as he’s claimed to view it as his best route to regular senior team action.
As such, the 18-year-old ace has drawn interest from a host of clubs, including Sporting CP, where he spent his formative years before switching to England.
In spite of their persistent interest in Rafael, the Lions could face competition from both Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid and fellow Liga NOS heavyweights SL Benfica in the hunt for the Liverpool talent.
And according to a Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, Marcel Keizer’s side made contact with Liverpool management the previous week, starting negotiations to sign Camacho.
Sporting CP came close to signing Camacho in the January transfer market, but Jurgen Klopp blocked the star’s exit.
But now the Lisbon-based giants are making a fresh push to take Rafael Camacho to his native Portugal.
In other news, according to journalist David Ornstein on BBC Radio Five Live Sport, Belgian star Divock Origi will not be departing Liverpool this summer – regardless of whether he pens a new contract or not.
Origi’s worth to the Reds has increased as the campaign has progressed, and Divock played a starring role versus Barcelona in the UCL recently.
The Independent have reported that the club have offered Origi fresh terms, with his current contract due to expire in the summer of 2020.
The forward still has not committed his long-term future at Anfield, but coach Jurgen Klopp is determined to keep the player around.
