Sky Sports pundit Darren Bent has stated that Tottenham might want to land Xherdan Shaqiri from Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at some point next year.

Football Insider has claimed that the 28-year-old star wants to quit Anfield in 2020 after spending much of his two-and-a-half years at Anfield sat on the fringes of Jurgen Klopp’s team.

Ex-Spurs centre-forward Bent reckons that his old club could take an interest in Shaqiri, while adding that Gunners might also want to take a look at the former Stoke forward.

“I think Arsenal would probably take him, Manchester City nope, Chelsea nope, Spurs may potentially take him as well. I think there will be no shortage of takers so he has nothing to fear about that.” Darren told Football Insider

Xherdan has struggled at Liverpool as he has never really forced his way up the pecking order. Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah start almost every big game there is so there are limited chances for Xherdan to impress.

Divock Origi and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also appear to be above the former Inter Milan and Bayer Munich man in the pecking order too, which makes it even harder for the player to get a match.

Switzerland attacker has not featured in a match for more than 11 minutes this campaign and that was in the Community Shield defeat to Manchester City in August.

Injuries haven’t helped him but leaving Anfield does seem like something that he will have to consider next year.

Klopp might not want to lose him in January, but the next summer transfer market could be when the player parts ways with the European champions.
