Liverpool are reportedly set to reignite their interest in Bayer Leverkusen star Julain Brandt this summer but could face stiff competition for Germany international from Juventus.
The 22-year-old forward was strongly connected with a move to Reds in 2017 before manager Jurgen Klopp snapped up Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah instead, however, his excellent displays this season have put the player back in the shop window in summer.
According to a German outlet Bild, Brandt has an exit clause in his current contract of just €25 million and both Juventus and Liverpool are weighing up whether or not to meet it when the transfer market re-opens.
Julian burst onto the scene as an explosive attacker, but he has caught the eye in a central role this campaign, with only Joshua Kimmich (11) and Jadon Sancho (12) supplying more assists in the German top-flight than his ten.
In spite of enjoying a wonderful season both in the Champions League and Premier League, Reds’ lack of creativity from the middle of the pitch has been questioned at times and Julian would offer his compatriot manager a more creative option in the midfield.
The Reds are also said to be in the transfer market for a wide midfield star in the summer to provide backup and competition to Salah and Sadio Mane and his ability to play on either wing as well as centrally could make the former Wolfsburg ace a more attractive target.
He has long been tipped as one of his country’s brightest young aces and he was surprisingly included in their 2018 FIFA World Cup roster ahead of Manchester City winger Leroy Sane, highlighting the esteem with which he’s held by Joachim Low.
Reds have also been connected with a move for his international teammate Timo Werner who has reportedly informed RB Leipzig that he won’t sign an extension to his deal which expires next summer.
According to the latest reports in the Italian press, via CalcioNapoli24 and Sport Witness, Liverpool are prepared to go all in on attempting to sign Piotr Zielinski this time.
Jurgen Klopp is clearly a massive fan. The Reds had an offer rejected for the Polish star when he was at Udinese back in 2016, per BBC, and Piotr eventually joined then Maurizio Sarri’s Napoli instead, where the midfielder has been exceptional.
After connections cropped up again the previous summer, the Italian press are stating Liverpool are preparing a whopping €60 million (£51.8 million) bid to secure the star’s services this time.
Piotr was a player with huge potential when he took pictures wearing a Reds shirt way back in 2016 in the hopes of sealing his dream switch to Anfield.
He’s no longer just “potential” now though and has transformed into one of the most intelligent and technically gifted midfielders in Europe.
The 24-year-old star has completed 90% of his passes in 30 league showings this campaign, averaging 1.6 key passes and one dribble per game as well as 1.1 tackles per match.
Having played wealth of times on the left flank of midfield this season and displaying brilliant dribbling, vision and acceleration from midfield, Zielinski could be Jurgen’s replacement for the creativity that walked out the door with Brazil international Philippe Coutinho.
Meanwhile, Liverpool star Bobby Adekanye has met his representative to discuss his future as SS Lazio look to rope the star in when the summer market opens.
The 20-year-old forward is out of contract at the end of the campaign and has refused to pen a new deal with Reds as he plans to leave Anfield ahead of the new season.
Liverpool already have plenty of attacking talent, but one centre-forward may just tempt coach Jurgen Klopp into the transfer window this summer.
The club have seen Brazilian star Roberto Firmino go through ups and downs this campaign, so bringing in another forward is not beyond all realms of possibility, and RB Leipzig star Timo Werner has been strongly linked.
The Liverpool Echo report that the Reds are keeping a close eye on key RB Leipzig man, with Jurgen understood to be a fan of his fellow countryman.
The Reds may now be on red alert, as Timo has rejected a new contract with the Bundesliga club and has just 12 months left on his current deal, meaning a summer departure may be on the cards.
This is surely the time for Anfield outfit to make the concrete move. England international star Daniel Sturridge is departing and Belgian star Divock Origi’s long-term future is unclear, so adding one high-quality striker to compete with Roberto would give Klopp’s men another dimension going forward.
Whilst SoAmericancian brings great technique and work rate, Timo has bags of pace and likes to run off the shoulder of the last player, giving Jurgen another devastating option in the attack, whilst he might be purchased for great value considering his contract situation.
The timing is ideal for Liverpool, and it might have a major impact on city rivals Everton, given that football news website Calciomercato.com state that RB Leipzig star Jean-Kevin Augustin is their main attacking target in summer.
