Liverpool are reportedly the latest side to join the running for the possible transfer of exciting Lyon prodigy Rayan Cherki.

Manchester City and Manchester United have also been mentioned as among the attacker’s suitors, but it now looks like Liverpool also want to attempt to add him to their stock of promising youngsters, according to 90min.

The Merseyside outfit have done well in the latest times to snap up the likes of Harvey Elliott and Sepp van den Berg as manager Jurgen Klopp builds for the future at Anfield.

The 16-year-old could be another superb addition at the Reds, with the talented teenager already making his senior-team debut for Les Gones and looking a cut above his peers in the UEFA Youth League, playing in a variety of positions across the front three.

90min add that Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas is now aware he is fighting a losing battle to keep him and could therefore sanction a sale in the winter.

The Reds have had their troubles negotiating with Les Gones in the past, having notably failed to land Nabil Fekir from the Ligue 1 heavyweights, as noted by 90min.

The report adds that a host of other top European clubs such as Real Madrid, Juventus and Barcelona could also be ready to pounce for the highly-rated Frenchman.

Still, both Reds and Red Devils could be tempting moves for a youngster of this calibre as the clubs have a history of handing opportunities to youth.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could surely do with building a new generation at Old Trafford, though one has to wonder if he would get the time to see them all come through as his club continues to struggle – and that lack of stability could surely see Klopp’s side emerge as favourites over their rivals.
