Liverpool have been alerted to the availability of Real Madrid centre-back, Eder Militao, and could make a swoop in the January window, according to Sport World.
Jurgen Klopp hasn’t given anything away when it comes to Liverpool potentially signing a new defender this month, although the German has admitted it was unlikely.
However, Eder is expected to be able to quit Real Madrid on a loan deal initially, with the Brazilian star out of the plans for manager Zinedine Zidane for the time being.
Claims have suggested Jose Mourinho is pushing his Tottenham board to sign Militao but the Reds chief could look to get one over his rival by bringing in the Madrid man.
In spite of not featuring much this campaign, Militao is highly-rated. Indeed, his fellow countryman Casemeiro declared his delight when Los Blancos did land him, after stating ‘half of Europe wanted him’ initially.
Liverpool are not likely to spend big money on a new centre-half so any move would likely be a loan deal.
If the club could somehow wrap up a deal for him, it would offer the Premier League champions an insurance policy and give Liverpool a defender who is more than experienced and cable at the highest level.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are keeping a close eye on Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma as another potential replacement for Georginio.
The 24-year-old has impressed at the heart of his side’s midfield and has also attracted interest from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
