German giants against idea of Liverpool snapping up 25-goals forward

Bayern Munich have been left unimpressed by Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool’s approach for Germany international Timo Werner, according to a recent report by Kicker, via journalist Manuel Veth on Twitter.

The Anfield outfit have reportedly continued their long-term pursuit of the RB Leipzig star, with a summer transfer mooted.

Die Roten could still make a move, however, and are continuing to monitor the current situation, not finding themselves amused by the prospect of Timo potential becoming a Red.

They had an opportunity to land him for €25 million the previous summer, but the transfer never came to fruition.

Liverpool bringing in Werner could be another significant piece of transfer business given what a potent attacking player he has matured into.

The star has 25 goals to his name for Leipzig this campaign, not to mention his ability to play anywhere across the final third.

In Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, Liverpool have three world-class stars, with 34 PL goals between them, but there is then a significant drop down in quality in the club’s front-line.

Timo could add competition in that respect, also having the ability to thrive in a 4-3-2-1 system alongside Firmino, Mane and Salah. He could lead the line, allowing Roberto to drop deep, or equally play in one of the wide roles.

It is important to have world-class cover for Senegal international and former Roma player when they play in the Africa Cup of Nations early next year, too.

Liverpool reportedly in pole position to bring in Todd Cantwell

Liverpool are reportedly the favourites to sign Norwich teen Todd Cantwell after firming up their rumoured interest this month.

Manchester United have been heavily mentioned with a transfer for Cantwell, who has caught the eye of rival sides in a relegation-battling side.

Liverpool supporters were impressed by Cantwell’s performance in their win against Norwich at the weekend and the Athletic claim Jurgen Klopp and his coaching staff were won over by the 21-year-old ace.

Even the Liverpool stars liked what they saw from Todd, who has scored six times this campaign.

United were weighing up a move for him in January but decided to focus their efforts on landing Bruno Fernandes and an emergency striker.

Tottenham and Manchester City have also expressed an interest in Todd, but Liverpool have stepped up their reported pursuit of the attacking midfielder since the close of the winter transfer market.

As a result, the Reds are now the favourites to land Cantwell, who will be allowed to depart Norwich if they are relegated from the English top-flight.

Norwich are currently rock bottom of the standings and appear destined to drop back down in the EFL Championship after just a campaign in the league.

Liverpool believe they can snap up Todd for around £30 million and he could be a direct successor for Adam Lallana, who is set to leave the club once his deal expires.

Klopp has a wealth of variants in midfield but will be keen to inject some new energy this summer with the Reds poised to win their first PL title.

Liverpool told to pay €60m for in-demand Ligue 1 club midfield beast

Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais have reportedly set their asking price for Eduardo Camavinga amid speculation that Liverpool are interested.

AC Milan have also been repeatedly linked with a move for him, and RMC Sport (via TribalFootball) recently claimed that Milan have opened talks with the star’s entourage to gauge interest in a possible transfer to the San Siro.

However, then stated that Dortmund have now entered the running to sign the teenager, while the Reds, Barcelona and Manchester United have all been touted with interest by various sources too.

According to the latest report from an Italian website, Camavinga is a player who is admired by ‘half of Europe’, including Jurgen Klopp’s side because of his impressive exploits at such a young age.

The Anfield outfit are interested in securing the services of the talented midfielder in spite of their star-studded midfield.

Stade Rennais’ management know that they can potentially demand a huge sum for their prized young asset.

The outlet states that the Breton club have set a starting price of €60m for the 17-year-old talent.

In other news, former Netherlands midfielder Ruud Gullit has said that his compatriot Virgil van Dijk is the key reason that Liverpool have surpassed Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the PL.

Speaking to Omnisport, Ruud said: “A lot of teams don’t defend well. So, with Van Dijk, that was an issue that was done [solved]. Van Dijk was an example that I was right in Holland.

“If I say you have to learn how to defend people say, ‘You’re always with the defending’ and things like that.

“But that’s where it all started. Now they say you’re right, [you can have success] if you have a good defender, and the good thing is it was a Dutch defender.”
