Liverpool are reportedly the latest side to join the running for the possible transfer of exciting Lyon prodigy Rayan Cherki.
Manchester City and Manchester United have also been mentioned as among the attacker’s suitors, but it now looks like Liverpool also want to attempt to add him to their stock of promising youngsters, according to 90min.
The Merseyside outfit have done well in the latest times to snap up the likes of Harvey Elliott and Sepp van den Berg as manager Jurgen Klopp builds for the future at Anfield.
The 16-year-old could be another superb addition at the Reds, with the talented teenager already making his senior-team debut for Les Gones and looking a cut above his peers in the UEFA Youth League, playing in a variety of positions across the front three.
90min add that Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas is now aware he is fighting a losing battle to keep him and could therefore sanction a sale in the winter.
The Reds have had their troubles negotiating with Les Gones in the past, having notably failed to land Nabil Fekir from the Ligue 1 heavyweights, as noted by 90min.
The report adds that a host of other top European clubs such as Real Madrid, Juventus and Barcelona could also be ready to pounce for the highly-rated Frenchman.
Still, both Reds and Red Devils could be tempting moves for a youngster of this calibre as the clubs have a history of handing opportunities to youth.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could surely do with building a new generation at Old Trafford, though one has to wonder if he would get the time to see them all come through as his club continues to struggle – and that lack of stability could surely see Klopp’s side emerge as favourites over their rivals.
Liverpool have been labelled as frontrunners to sign Jadon Sancho from the German club Borussia Dortmund by former Premier League centre-forward, turned pundit, Jan Aage Fjortoft.
The 19-year-old ace’s future has been the subject of much talk after relationships at his current club have become stretched.
The Englishman was dropped from the starting eleven for a recent Champions League fixture with La Liga giants Barcelona and there have been multiple reports of his lateness raising disciplinary problems.
Dortmund boss Lucien Favre said after the defeat to Blaugrana, in which Sancho scored: ‘I explained to him [why he wasn’t starting] before the game.
‘I told him it was a really difficult game here in Barcelona, and we needed players that were really focused and that went on to the pitch really focused.’
The Bundesliga outfit will now reportedly listen to proposals for the winger in January, and Fjortoft believes it is the Reds that is his most likely destination.
‘From a very good source in Germany: Klopp and Liverpool favorite to get Dortmund-player Sancho,’ tweeted Jan, who works for a Norwegian television channel Viasport, among others. ‘Sancho wants to leave the club already in January.’
Jadon was positive about his future at die Borussen earlier in the season, telling Viasport in September:
‘I can’t tell the future. ‘I just take it game by game. I just want to give 100 per cent for Borussia Dortmund.
‘I really want to do well with Dortmund. Obviously, I want to win titles and give everything.’
However, things have soured since then and an exit in the winter or the summer seems likely, although the youngster will set any club back around £100 million.
Liverpool could reportedly bring forward plans to dip into the transfer window for Norwegian international Sander Berge as the club look for solutions to deal with the injury of Brazil international Fabinho.
The South American is not expected to return until the New Year at the earliest after the star suffered ankle ligament damage during a 1-1 draw in a UCL group stage clash with Napoli.
As a result of the injury blow, it is claimed that Liverpool could intensify their efforts to land 21-year-old Berge from Genk.
According to The Mirror, the highly rated prodigy has been a target of the Premier League title-chasers after impressing them during recent Champions League clashes versus Genk.
The 21-year-old holding midfielder has 18 months left on his contract and previously said it’d be a ‘dream’ to play for Liverpool.
Berge played in both matches against the Reds, and following a 2-1 victory for the Reds at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp was understood to be intrigued by the Norwegian international.
Klopp spoke to the 21-year-old after the clash, with Berge subsequently recalling the ‘wonderful’ moment.
Sander told VG: ‘It was a great moment. You have a big smile when you receive those sorts of compliments.
‘It is wonderful when such a renowned manager as Jurgen Klopp comes over and says something like that.’
Usually deployed as a defensive midfielder, the £25 million-rated Berge is also capable of operating slightly further forward.
The youngster’s current deal at Genk runs until the summer of 2021, but he could well be on the move before then with Chelsea and Napoli also reportedly interested.
