Barcelona would reportedly prefer to land Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford instead of Brazil and Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino.
The Catalan club are lining up a list of strikers to potentially replace Luis Suarez who looks somewhat passed his best years and who may soon need to make way for a younger centre-forward.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Marcus is joined by big names like Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane and Paris Saint-Germain sensation Kylian Mbappe on Blaugrana’s list of targets.
And while the report suggests the Reds’ Firmino has also been considered, it seems the South American is not quite as high up in their thinking as someone like Marcus.
This seems utterly bizarre considering the respective recent form of the two players, with the Englishman nowhere near his best for a while as the goals have dried up for him in a big way.
Roberto, meanwhile, looks one of the best attacking players in the world football on his day and an all-round player who could fit in well with Barcelona’s style of play.
Luis has been a star performer for the Catalans and will no doubt prove a tough act to follow for the player comes in next.
Meanwhile, according to a recent report from 61 Saat, Newcastle United are also keen on reported Liverpool transfer target, Ugurcan Cakir, with the North-East outfit having sent scouts to watch the Trabzonspor star in action.
Cakir has a contract at the Turkish club until 2024, while it is alleged that club officials could value the player in the region of £17m.
