Liverpool have not submitted an offer for Ajax centre-back Perr Schuurs, according to a recent report in the Dutch media.
Dutch source Voetbal Premier, as cited by the Liverpool Echo, are denying recent media speculation that the defending PL champions have made a £27 million offer for the Netherlands international.
The same article states that the Reds have been monitoring the 21-year-old talent in the current campaign following his standout showings in the Dutch top-flight over the past season or so.
Liverpool have been keeping tabs on Perr but Liverpool have not yet made an offer for the Dutch ace ahead of the January transfer window.
They are looking to overcome an injury crisis at the back after Perr’s compatriot Virgil van Dijk and the England star Joe Gomez succumbed to season-ending knee injuries in November and October.
Liverpool have also lost right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold to a calf injury to leave Andy Robertson as the only first-choice defender in Jurgen’s back four from last season.
Nat Phillips started at centre-half alongside Fabinho for the Reds’ 1-1 draw with Brighton at the Amex Stadium last week.
Meantime, Liverpool icon John Barnes believes that the club should have no problem in convincing Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly to make the move to Anfield from Napoli.
Speaking to BonusCodeBets, John said: “If Koulibaly comes, he’s a player that could play alongside Van Dijk when he returns so it would be easy to talk Koulibaly into joining Liverpool, unlike some other top players because he’s a person that if he comes would go straight into the first team and play every match.
“Aside from Koulibaly, I don’t think there’s anyone out there that Liverpool would look to get in January.”
