A German outlet SportBild reports that Tottenham Hotspur are leading Liverpool in the hunt to sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Julian Brandt.

Germany international has been brilliant for the Bundesliga side this term, and the report states that Brandt will depart in the summer irrespective of his side’s Champions League prospects.

The 23-year-old star has a buy-out clause of just £21 million in spite of having two years left on his contract, and the report states that Spurs are speaking with Julian’s father.

Jurgen Klopp wanted to land the German attacker in 2017 before moving for Egypt international and then-Roma winger Mohamed Salah, and the report claims that the Leverkusen star is being connected with the Reds again.

There is plenty of interest in Julian, with Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund also holding negotiations, according to the report.

Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen’s future is still undetermined with Real Madrid keen on the former Ajax player.

Losing Christian would be a blow but Julian could be a smart acquisition for the Champions League finalists. The German star has the skills to improve further and can be the creative force in the middle of the pitch.

Brandt’s best performances have come in the wide roles and the German has formed an excellent partnership with his fellow countryman Kai Havertz and Jamaican winger Leon Bailey at Die Werkself.

The 23-year-old star has a lot left in him, and it will be very interesting to see if Julian is on the move once the campaign is done.
