Emile Heskey has tipped former side Liverpool to target RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner in the summer.
Jurgen Klopp is said to have made the Germany international his number one target for when the transfer market reopens, although the European champions could face competition from the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea.
The 24-year-old star has a £52m release clause in his deal at Die Roten Bullen, and he believes that he is exactly the type of player Jurgen will be keen to “get his teeth stuck into”.
“Timo Werner is a young player who has done phenomenally well. When you’re bringing in young players, you want ones that are tried and tested, who know what it takes to perform at the top level,” Emile told Genting Bet.
“Those players are always going to be an asset. Werner looks phenomenal – his pace looks great. Klopp obviously knows a lot about the German league as well, so I’m sure he’ll be keen to get his teeth stuck into him.”
Timo has been one of the most prolific strikers in Europe this term, scoring 27 goals and assisting 12 more in 36 games.
Elsewhere, Barcelona manager Quique Setien is reportedly ‘dreaming’ of signing Napoli star Fabian Ruiz.
The 23-year-old midfielder is widely expected to leave his Italian club in the summer, with a number of clubs said to be in the hunt.
Liverpool and Manchester City have both been credited with an interest in the Spaniard, while Ruiz’s agent Alvaro Torres has stated that Real Madrid are in the running.
Blaugrana have also been consistently mentioned with the midfielder, though, and according to AS, Quique dreams of bringing him to Camp Nou during this summer’s transfer market.
