Memphis Depay has done a great job at Ligue 1 giants Lyon since joining them from the struggling Premier League side Manchester United.
The 25-year-old star has scored consistently for Les Gones and is a permanent fixture in the Dutch national team too.
Memphis has turned his career around after his struggles at Old Trafford. He was signed from Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven but left after failing to make a mark at the club.
An older and more experienced Memphis seems to be at his best and the 25-year-old star has been linked with Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Tottenham and United are also interested in the 25-year-old, however, Lyon are set to offer the player a new deal.
The club’s chairman Jean Michel Aulas confirmed to BeIN Sports a new deal was on the way. However, Aulas added that Nethernalds international was still to make a decision on signing it:
“We will make him a contract extension offer because he is an exceptional player. He will be the one who will ultimately decide. He is a sweet boy, an interesting man.”
The Reds are in a great position in the PL and could do with another quality forward coming in.
Mohamed Salah has had his injury problems this term while the club would need to rest players because of their packed schedule.
However, Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi were brought back in the team to face Everton. The duo were excellent in the 5-2 win with both getting on the score sheet.
Xherdan could be the difference-maker for the remainder of the term. If the Swiss star performs at his best Liverpool might not need to think of making any signings in January.
